Default Good bye G Man

I enjoyed watching the ups and downs of Giacomo's career. After his visually impressive maiden win,Mike Smith said he was his Derby horse. He said he reminded him very much of his sire. Then came the 1st down(a disappointing lazy 3rd in an allowance race that he was supposed to win.) You remember that,ATEAM? You weren't too happy that day...Next came the high of coming 2nd to Declan's Moon in the Hollywood Futurity. Then the disappointing 2nds,and 3rds leading up to his surprising victory in one of the biggest races in the world(the Derby.)The average 3rd in the Preakness, and the injury in the Belmont. After a chip was taken out,he returned this year to a decent 3rd,but was disappointing again in the Santa Anita Handicap. In typical Giacomo fashion,he comes off a layoff to win a grade 2 at Del Mar.After a disappointing run in the Pacific Classic,he runs a good 3rd to to Lava Man.Then ends his career on Saturday with a good 4th to two of the most talented horses in the world. That will be the best Beyer,or quickest race(statistically)of his career. His people are proud of that effort, and, to me, he will always be a classy horse. He leaves the game as a sound horse who earned 2.53 million dollars(about 170k per race.)He will be one of the few modern day stakes horses to have just one jockey ride him over a 2 year career. Now on to make some gray/roan kids.Maybe 1 out of a hundred will even show some speed. LOL.The mares gotta help with that part.

I didn't hear that he was retired. But if this is it... quite an enigmatic horse. But I respect his gangsta. I hope Giacomo follows every stepp Kenny Mayne reported about lol.

I believe that Giacomo will be one to surprise everyone at stud. He'll throw some nice ones...
