Default Thunder Snow = Out

NEWS ALERT
Thunder Snow Scratched from Whitney

Godolphin's multiple group 1 winner Thunder Snow,
back-to-back winner of the Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (G1) at Meydan
for trainer Saeed bin Suroor, will not run in the Aug. 3 Whitney Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.

"We took him to the track this morning and he came back to the barn and coughed a few times.

We took his temperature and he's running a little bit of a fever.
In the best interests of the horse, we will be passing on the Whitney today," bin Suroor said.

Certainly cuts down on our options for a number of races. Many of us are going to have very similar picks.

Don't think that there are weather issues - races are still on the turf. Many of the scratches are non-contenders in the minor stakes races. Could they have been entered just to flesh out the fields and see how tough these smaller stakes were going to be?

For a while, the plan was to keep him at Saratoga and run in the Woodward on closing weekend. Now, it appears that those plans have been discarded and Thunder Snow will be heading back to Newmarket. Not clear what plans they have to get him ready for the BC.
