ROI Results 4/18 @ Oaklawn
Oaklawn Week 3, Part Deux. "I fought the lawn and the lawn won". For the second week
in a row Oaklawn pummeled our players with this week being even worse as no tickets were cashed. The days "Best Bet" was made by Don Guido who didn't show and didn't lose anything. At least scorekeeping was easy. Congrats to Joly B for winning the points contest. The downside to that is finding a track next week. The pickins be slim but at least some track will be running somewhere I hope and it's a good couple hour diversion while being stuck indoors. Following are the unofficial results pending a breakout from quarantine by the scorekeeper. Stay well folks. Joly B -$99.00 Real Quiet -$99.00 Cal828 -$100.00 Indian Hemp -$100.00 NJ Stinks -$100.00 Ruffian -$100.00 Plenilune -$100.00 Roamin -$100.00

And the beatdown at Oaklawn continued for me on Sunday. I played the 9th and it was a slopfest and lost again. Oaklawn is a killer with those big fields which is funny. Most of the time people are complaining about small fields. Some really nice payouts though, if you can take advantage which I have so far failed at, but at least I'm in good company.
Hope you guys in the Northeast are faring well. You all seem to be taking the worst of it. I hope the return to normalcy is done right and doesn't result in more tragedy. We have done remarkably well here in Arkansas. Don't know why. I guess because no big population centers except for Little Rock and even that is tiny compared to other places. I am contemplating going to Little Rock to see my kids and grandkids. Hard to imagine that a person doing such a simple act might actually be risking their life, but maybe that is overstatement since we have so few cases here. |

Oaklawn continues to have the best racing in the country of the few that are still running, but I suspect that our players might desire a change of pace. The stakes schedule for next Saturday is pretty sparse. Oaklawn has two ungraded stakes, each at 6 furlongs. Gulfstream's condition book lists a $75,000 stake for 3 year olds running 1 & 1/16th miles on the main track. Tampa Bay does not offer any stakes races in its condition book. I'd like to get some reaction from our players about their preferences for venue. Do we want to remain at Oaklawn and try our hands at probably the best quality racing, or visit another track such as Gulfstream just for the sake of variety? That's assuming that there are no additional cancellations or openings between now and Saturday. |

I like both places, but I vote to stay at Oaklawn. As you said, that is probably where the best racing is for the moment. Also, after receiving such a drubbing there, maybe we can rise to the challenge and it will be more satisfying, if we can get some winners. |

As I've stated in the past, I can year up tickets anywhere. If Oaklawn has the best card as a group we are overdue.
