Default Derby Day Spots

st- #5 Soros- makes first start for Mike McCarthy and displayed some talent as a 2 year old, breaking his maiden in a stake. Fresh gelding with a solid work tab and he just has the looks of a live horse. Money might tell more of a story. Betting to win and in doubles with the 1,3,4,6,7,10,12

nd- I like no less than six in here but I’m going to bet a few bucks on #3 Alydiva, who finished up well in debut on poly. Dam broke her maiden on grass and was 3rd in a listed stake. Dam is a half to Gastronmical, who won multiple stakes on grass as well as Spanish Prince who was a stakes winner overseas. Should get lost in the wagering.

th- #3 Street Ready- I really wish Landeros was not aboard today, as I think he stiffed last time, but being with the trainers daughter has its privileges. Plenty of speed to run at in here and I’m hoping Landeros gets him going earlier and gets him in the clear.

th- #6 Starrinmydreams- cuts back to one turn after being the only horse who was close to the pace in the Lexington last time who wasn’t up the track. Hoping Saez takes him back to make one run as there is plenty of pace signed on here. Using 3,4,6,8 in pick 5

th- #3 Chess’s Dream- I’ll admit it’s a stab, but he wasn’t that far off of Annex and Scarlet Sky two back and I think this race collapses. Also seems like the kind of horse Jose Ortiz will fit like a glove, and hopefully he can pick them up late. Using 3,4,13 in pick 5.

th- #5 Tap It To Win- loved his return and I’m hoping history repeats itself here. As a 2 year old he jumped up and ran a huge race in his 2nd start. Last year, he freaked in his 2nd start off the bench. Should be sitting well in second flight. Using 4,5 in pick 5

th- #5 Domestic Spending- loses Irad to the favorite, but gets a good replacement in Prat. Likes winning races as all 4 of his wins have been by less than a length so he has a lot of fight in him. I’m thinking Prat understands there isn’t much pace in here and will have him sitting closer than normal early and if it’s close at the end, he’s who I want. Using 3,5,6,7 in pick 5

th- #1 Known Agenda- new gate means rail is of no concern and had his breakout race in Florida. Has shown taking dirt in the face is fine by him and I’m hoping Irad can work out the perfect inside out trip like last time. Using 1,8,9,17 in pick 5
