Default So, Derby Week has finally arrived, Look for all Extras Here

Chruchill Downs next Saturday of course and we have extras and prizes far and wide.

- Double your wallets to win or lose to $200
- Double points awarded for picks and ROI Wagers
- Derby Extras include additional points for:
a. 30 pts for a straight trifecta
b. 20 pts for a straight exacta
c. 10 pts for picking the last place horse
d. 10 pts for closest guess to the official CD attendance

And winners of the Points and ROI Contests will get a yummy treat

DonGuido's Extra Large Hunson River Eell pizza, delivered hot and fresh to your back porch (someone will steal it on the front porch). If ya don't have a back porch get one built quickly, ya got 7 days

And don't forget "DonGuido's Hudson River Eel Pizzas are Eelly Eelly Good!"
Anchovies will cost extra.

Please put your guesses for c. and d. above in this tread. Thanks for playing and Ga'luk to all!!!

7 stakes on Friday and 8 on Saturday. I wish we could start capping now. I think only Oaklawn and Fairgrounds give you nearly a week to do your capping. I likely will ignore Friday and focus on Saturday and even that is pretty grueling if you handicap all the stakes that are offered unless you go the dark sciences route with your crystal ball or Weegee board.

After looking at Saturday's entry list, I'm inclined to agree with you (other than one of my favorite wagers, the Oaks - Derby Double). Saturday's race card is nothing short of grueling. An active player will likely be exhausted, both physically, mentally and financially, by the end of the day. Churchill is offering 14 races over a period of 10 hours, with most races having very full fields. A cynical person would suggest that they were being greedy. When I have time I'll try to count the total number of horses who will be running - I'm sure that it is a large number.

Good that we can start the handicapping process earlier than in the past.

Try USA Network for Oaks Day coverage. That's what we have locally.

I MUST HAVE ANCHOVIES AT ANY COST
~~~~~ BUT DEFINITELY NO EEL
PIZZA WITHOUT ANCHOVIES IS JUST A BUNCH OF CHEESE + TOMATO
Sorry Ruffian, Eel it has to be or it wouldn't be "DonGuido's Hudson River Eel Pizza, It's Eely Eely Good". You'll just have to pick the eel off and give it your cats but I will add extra anchovies for ya. I don't have anchivies though.
Enough pizza talk, let's get some spirited talk about who will win and why. I have no clue since I've been lying low for the past weeks. And who are the real live longshots for a possible upset. Sure, I can read or hear about it from the so called Experts but i trust everyone here more.
CAL + DON
I finally discovered the reason that led to the confusion
The original first post announcing the extra points
is buried on page 3 on my iPad
The Horse Racing Goddess
Entered my mind with a suggestion
“ Try Going Back Into Previous Pages “
She Was Absolutely Correct
You might be right about the goblins, although I think I would call them gremlins. Often times I have to sign in 3 or 4 times before it finally recognizes me and lets me in and often when I post it tells me I have already posted and have to wait 30 seconds between posts even though it is my first attempt at posting. Steve B. said awhile back that there were problems. Maybe this is what he was talking about. Computers sometimes seem to have a mind of their own. Artificial Intellegence, I guess, at its finest.
CAL
You don’t have to talk to me about technical issues on this site
A
If you have more than 4 emoticon’s the notice says you cannot post
B
If I go back and edit anything I’ve posted
It immediately transforms all of my emoticons into??
NO OTHER SITE DOES THAT
Default 2021 Derby 🐎 Attendance
After being held without fans last year, the Kentucky Derby welcomed more than 51,000 fans to Churchill Downs in Louisville on Saturday. It was the largest crowd to gather at a U.S. sporting event since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The official attendance at this year’s Derby was 51,838, according to organizers.
The number is a fraction of the 150,000 or more fans who typically fill the stands at the annual event;
but, as local reporters pointed out, the Derby crowd was still larger than the 47,218 people who attended the University of Alabama’s spring football game
in mid-April — which, at the time, had been dubbed the most crowded sporting event in the U.S. since the start of the pandemic.
