Default Top Television Actors

I liked Randy's thread and it made me think(although you guys are crazy if you dont get Ed Norton's brilliance).

so I thought Id start a thread on the best tv actors.
its a different talent than film.
I dont watch that much television so Im sure I am missing a lot of names, but from what I have seen, here is what I got.

1.Goren Visnjic-ER
2.Hugh Luarie-House
3.Jason Lee-My Name is Earl
4.Vincent D'Onofrio-Law and Order CI
5.who knows-those are about the only shows that I watch with any regularity.

I certainly agree with Hugh Laurie being on any list...he is outstanding as House,
alltime favorites (male):
1) David Boreanz
2) Roy Dupuis
3) Hugh Laurie
4) James Marsters
5) Alexis Denisof
(female)
1) Sarah Michelle Gellar
2) Alyson Hannigan
3) Charisma Carpenter
4) Amber Benson
5) Summer Glau
Of course, I'm safe here as I said "favorites"...I'm far from impartial!

Repent, sure! As people could guess, most are connected to the Whedonverse, here is a rundown:
David Boreanz...played Angel on Buffy, then after season three, starred in the spinoff, Angel for five seasons, for the last two seasons he stars in Bones as FBI agent Seeley Booth. Number of movies as well.
Roy Dupuis...co-star with Peta Wilson in La Femme Nikita for five seasons, he played the operative Michael...probably the "coolest" and most lethal agent ever on TV. Mainly French-Canadian movies and TV otherwise.
Hugh Laurie...Dr Greg House of course, movies as well.
James Marsters...played Spike on Buffy and Angel, reoccuring role on Smallville, number of guest appearances, performs with band and solo.
Alexis Denisof...played Wesley Windom Price on Buffy and Angel, probably the most extensive character evolution in TV history over the course of six years.
Sarah Michelle Gellar...star of many movies (personal favorite is Cruel Intentions) and winner of TV Emmy for her performance in the daytime Soaps but will always be remembered as the social icon Buffy!
Alyson Hannigan...again, number of movies including all three American Pie movies, currently stars in How I Met Your Mother but again, will always be Willow to me (Buffy).
Charisma Carpenter...Cordy in Buffy and Angel, reoccurring role in Veronica Mars and Charmed, number of TV and big screen movies.
Amber Benson...Tara in Buffy, very talented actress and writer who has also produced and directed several indy films, number of guest appearances in TV shows.
Summer Glau...River Tam in Firefly and the movie Serenity, also starred in episode "Waiting in the Wings" on Angel. Guest appearances on 4400, the Unit and several other shows. Former Prima Ballerina discovered by Joss Whedon

Jerry,
I'm rewatching Buffy right now...on season 4, Mercedes as Spike's abused girl friend is absolutely great, when human...her character was rather forgettable but once a Vampire...ooh la la!

I think the entire cast of Grey's Anatomy stands up with just about any actor on TV. I can't find a single weak spot among any of their ten or so regular actors. Even the supporting ones deliver performances that would be good enough for awards (ie, for those that watch....Izze on last season's finale).

With no clear challenger in sight, best show on television.
