I dunno about an abomination.
Mich lost in the other team's stadium by a field goal.
Either way, I'm satisfied because even if they won today, USC had no business in that game, none.
Lets face it, Florida will get beat almost as badly as USC would have if they get the nod.
If Florida gets the nod the sweatervest has a championship in the bag.

it would say that the other conferences don't matter
Florida is a conference champion, Michigan is a second place conference team

Here is another way to look at it. Both Fl and Mich played two patsy div 2 type teams so I tossed those. Fl opponents won 63.43% of their games. Mich opponents won 58.33% of their games. They both played 3 each 10 win teams and both won 2 of those 3 games. Mich won 9 of 10 games (tossed Cent Mich and Ball St), Fl won 10 of 11 games (tossed UCF and West Carolina). Based on strength of opponents, Fl deserves the shot.

In the rest of the country outside the of the south, noone gives a rats ass about conferences, they just want the best two teams to meet in the championship game and provide the most exciting game.
You see, when the best two teams meet, its always more exciting than watching one team pound on another team.
Now, if you wanna make a little wager on OSU-Florida if it occurs be my guest!!!
I think that anyone who is advocating such a matchup wholeheartedly should be willing to back the Gators, seems logical.

it has nothing to do with the south
if the officals wouldn't have blow the OKlahoma-Oregon game
I'd say OU would have a better beef than Michigan
the national championship should be played with conference champions

While I'm not a fan of rematches, I think it's clearly Michigan here. Reason why? They are a lot better team than FL. Michigan lost one game by 3 points to the #1 in the country on it's home field. If Michigan gets the nod, I look for a repeat of year in which Fl St. beat FL by 3 and then they had a rematch in the Sugar Bowl and FL blew them out. Will it be Michigan? Who knows...but I think they are clearly better than the gators. Not a banner year for college football, that's for sure.

but on what basis is michigan 'a lot better'? i mean, a LOT? from what i've seen, based on #'s, florida had a slightly tougher schedule than michigan. yes, based on one loss each, michigan lost to the better team. but it's more than just that one loss that they go by.
