Default Scuds/ J.D. Drew

thanks for sending this chode our way...can't believe they paid him that much...5 years, $70 mill...heaven freaking forbid we spend some money to solidify the bull pen...that would make entirely too much sense. Im still waiting on Epstien to get off his knees....Guy has been gushing like he just met the love of his life. I just hope for his sake he produces. I just hate to see my boy Nixon leave...but it's a business.

Talk to me about Lugo...did he do much for ya'll in the 2nd half of the season?

Maddox signing with the Pads??? doesnt help you guys much there.

I'm not high on Lugo.

Watch you guys pull out a deal that bags a true closer like Chad Cordero
(facial expression can't be found for this statement)

Lugo turns 31 this year. He was having a Career year before he got traded to LA and saw his numbers go back down to his normal level. Lugo had his best year as a big leaguer in 2005, and when your best year occurs at the age of 30, you usually don't show even more improvement at 31. His bat's got some pop, and he'll still help in stealing bases. But I will always remember his upbringing in Houston which was just a Utility type player

Kev: since Scuds isn't around yet let me put my nickel in....Lugo is a good athlete, but soured on the Dodgers as soon as they platooned him! He bitched and moaned for 2 months. So the Dodgers did little to keep him. If he's happy at SS in Boston,he should be a great addition, but he only wants to play SS.

Well,I think you got ripped off badly with Drew.Believe me,I am glad he is gone. Not a hundred percenter.Puts in anywhere from 60% effort to 95% effort.I don't think the guy gave 100% effort for us the whole time he was here. Now you got 2 like that.As far as Lugo goes,I wanted to give him a chance here.He was really pressing for us last year.Nervous/Stressful type that was having a good season at Tampa, but didn't seem comfortable in the field, or at the plate (for us.) I don't know how they could consider paying what? 36 mil/4 years? I think Epstein must of been smoking dope to think he deserves anywhere near that.He could play well for you,but won't surprise me if he struggles at the plate.Good glove, but that would be an expensive glove.

"did he do much for ya'll in the 2nd half of the season?"

No,sir. He did not do much. That's the simple answer.

I'm pretty positive that Drew has never shown more than 80% in his life. I hope Stephen is not the same way.

Barring the draft fiasco with JD, I just don't think his heart is really into playing baseball. tons of talent. LaRussa would still have him, if he was a 100% player.
