![]() If anyone wants to see an amusing race, take a look at the replay of the seventh at Mountaineer tonight. It was a starter allowance at two miles.
Out of the gate a two horse speed duel developed. I noticed one jockey using the whip out of the gate to get position which I thought was interesting. The two dueling horses run off by by a dozen lengths back to the third horse. After about 9 furlongs the annoucer calls that the number 2, Blue Mon is some 20 plus lengths behind the field. Needless to say by the second turn the leaders are collapsing and the two runs by them on the final turn like they're standing still. The two wins by 18 LENGTHS. The jockey is Arienne Cox who has never won a race in her life and only making her seventh start. It was cool because she was willing to sit back about a furlong behind for the early going. You could see how happy she was after passing the wire. Imagine your first win is by 18 lengths. anyway it's something you don't see every day. |

You could tell it was her first win, she rode the horse through the wire and continued to hit it. That was after he exploded to a 15 length lead. Ridden out to win by 20

![]() He may have been a "need the lead type" going 2 miles. I noticed that horse being ridden with the whip out of the gate. Hilarious.

he would have found some way to screw up which horses were battling for the lead out of the gate and it would have taken him all of the next 14 furlongs to get it straight. then we would have been treated to a hurried "and down the stretch they come" for the only horse that had actually reached the stretch.
