(Only sound is that of GR repeatedly banging her head against a wall)

Looks like David Duke headed out to that conference. Well, you shall know a man by the company he keeps...

the thing that terrifies me is that he is brilliant too. for as smart as he is, the denying the holocaust thing baffles me.

remember when he spoke at the UN? Brilliant. For as much as he hates us, there's no denying his raw intelligence and he's quite the gamesman in politics.

the two are a scary proposition.

Well, of course he's smart. So is Lex Luthor.

Denying the Holocaust is a very smart thing to do if you're anti-Jew. They were absolutely victims in WW2-- I can't figure out how one could hold them culpable in what happened to them. The perfect victims. Which throws some cold water on the whole anti-Semitism thing. So what is an anti-Semite to do? Why, deny the Holocaust ever happened! Then they can all go back to hating Jews without having to feel guilty about it.

What I find so interesting is that that is the only Holocaust people are so eager to disbelieve. Maybe because it's the only one people actually bother to remember?

Speaking of anti-Semitism, and religious zealotry...

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2006/12/13/weinstein/

Can I say, WTF? How does no one see the parallels between this kind of crap and what we're fighting against?

I hope this guy keeps fighting the good fight. Jesus, please protect us from some of your alleged followers!

And from Slate, a good editorial on this frightening Iran conference.

http://www.slate.com/id/2155328/?nav=tap3

Interesting the speaker they disinvited was a Palestinian-- because he believes the Holocaust did happen!

GR,
I posted about David (KKK) Duke's attendance yesterday, but the thread was deleted.
More interesting is the vatican weighing in. Some forget Pius XII, so I'll post a link. Also, remember that the current Pope was a member of Hitler Youth.

He wasn't a "young kid" when he said the inflammatory words against Islam that he offered last month, and had to make a four day long apology "visit" to Turkey.

i have a book here about 'hitlers pope'. that's the title at least. excellent book. the author originally decided to write the book to defend pius xii. vatican allowed him access to a lot of documents--and that's when he found that he couldn't write anything defending the pope--and the vatican was none to happy to find they had helped someone write something like that!

This Middle East thing has taken a very interesting turn. Iraq, Sunni v. Shiite, has changed the dynamics. We now have a number of Arab nations scared to death that the Persian Shiites will gain too much of a foothold. And the split is even showing up in Gaza... foreign affairs is a very complex business. We may have inadvertantly started bringing the Islamic house down on itself. The rifts are growing in other countries. Arab countries taking sides... very interesting.

Nail...meet head.

I usually keep quiet about these things...but you are right...we may not have been the catylist but merely more fuel to an on going fire.
People compare the Iraq war to Vietnam. Wrong. This is a new level. Perpetual and only the begining. It's a new way of life.
