Default Dominguez takes five

Look, I know the guy has been the subject of some, er...controversy...on this site lately, but fair is fair -- you gotta' give the guy some props.

And they weren't all favorites.

Shadow, I agree at times he's one of the best in the country, but that ride last week or so that BTW pointed out was disgusting. I remember seeing him as an up and comer at Hialeah in '96 when he 1st arrived to the U.S.. His incident with Afleet Alex in the Preakness will never be forgotten. He's 30 yrs of age and the future is still bright.

See him often at Delaware. I have to admit that the incident in the Preakness kind of disturbed me at the time. I thought it odd -- can't say it was poor judgment, exactly -- for Dominguez to go to the left hand at that particular time. Ultimately, I just put it down to Scrappy T overreacting, like Dominguez said. And, he still came in second.

Bogey my friend.....he is far from one of the best in the country....he spots himself in the right places...Del....Lrl/Pim...The inner dirt meet at AQU......and he gets the mounts because the better jockeys aren't around....this guy burns a ton of money....if Eddie MArtin was riding for Contessa/Dutrows he would have just as many wins in NY....watch him when the real jocks come back up north...he goes back and hides at Delaware...where he belongs....

I have never seen a jock like Ramon who seems to not try that much out there...its like when he wins a race he wants to win by a neck...no matter how much horse he has

Stone, I mentioned at times, his ride in the '04 BC Turf was outstanding. There is a reason why Graham and others choose him to ride their top stock. I agree he is not there on a consistent basis with the best, but he still has some upside and could be successful for a long time.

I kind of had the same problem with Patient Pat.

Agree and disagree here. Can't agree that he doesn't try that much. Ramon is a little on the taller side and just looks awkward on a horse especially in the stretch where his sweeping whipping kind of takes away from a vigorous hand movement of say Gomez. I do think he likes not to over use a horse and you see him sometimes not ride as hard for a 3rd or 4th as he would if he were in contention to conserve the horse and that does bug me about him. I get to see him on an almost daily basis and agree that he does but on some bad rides including that one last week god lord i dont even wanna talk about it but if he is hot and riding well he times his rides really nicely like today on cavallo pazzo. I think his Saratoga meet 2 years back wasn't too bad at all where he won 20 wins and had a nice little ROI on those if I'm not mistaken. I can't fault you for thinking like you are but I just don't have the same view on the way he rides. Plus I cashed on at least 10 of those 20 at Saratoga 2 years back with him on board which always helps

Go watch a replay of his ride on Daytime Promise at AQU ...Jan 11...3rd race.

Definetly one of the worst rides I have ever seen.

I refered to it in my post I know the ride and I agreed it was absoluely pitiful. I really don't want to have another 7 page thread on it either.
