There will be a press release from the @DerbyMedia notes team fairly soon..

Initial reports from DRF's Privman, McGee & Grening circulating on backstretch is that everyone came back well..

Justify looked tired after Derby yesterday, bright and alert this morning: https://twitter.com/TwinSpires/statu...03028352888832

With Baffert: https://twitter.com/tjwilkin/status/993110806123499520

Justify appears to be something very special. Can we have to TC winners this close together . . . just asking? That would be a thrill!!!

Any Derby horses that had a terrible run that could come back well in the Preakness? Any horses that took the Derby off that could compete in the Preakness? Justify looks impressive, possibly a lock for the Preakness.

Yes but it's a hard rule "There are no locks in horse racing" unless you have another American Pharoah. NYRA must be a buzz thinking about another TC possibility. Especially with a horse like Justify.

Of course. For every American Pharoah, there are 10 Orbs or Smarty Joneses or Big Browns or even Barbaros. No guarantees at all. I was a big doubter of Justify heading into the Derby. He proved me wrong. Instilled Regard running 4th further bolsters his resume, not that he needed it.

You have to hand it to Baffert and owners. They have done everything "perfect" so far to let Justify be all the horse he can be. In big time races you don't get much better than Baffert.

I’m not liking the way Justify was walking this morning, clearly favoring left hind, reports are it’s a condition called scratches, I’ve dealt with that and they never walked lane, it’s more an asthetics issue than a soundness issue, but guess we’ll see what happens.

Social media is running wild...internet vets saying he’s lame. As if Bob would bring him out to parade if there was an issue.

Baffert responded that Justify is not lame. He’s susceptible to a condition called scratches. It occurs in wet weather and the gravel, outside the barn exacerbated it. No big deal, will put ointment on it and will be fine.

If Spectacular Bid could miss the Triple Crown, anyone can.

Treat it as I'm sure they are and it he will be 100% next race, this way or their way. Do ya think they know what to do?

Maybe this explains why Baffert was in no hurry to bring Justify east because of the threat of wet weather before the Derby.

Justify has a bruised heel, I knew that wasn’t scratches, I’ve dealt with severe scratches on all 4 legs, the horse was never lame. Hopefully he recovers and doesn’t miss any galloping.

When, where, and why would he have “brought him East”?

Maybe. The Todd Quad will be waiting. I can see it all now. Pletcher sends Noble Indy on a suicide mission to soften Big J up and Justify and Audible battle down to the finish and both are passed in the shadow of the wire by Hofberg.

On a more serious note, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, I am just hoping that this foot thing does not cause Justify to miss the Preakness. I take it that this is a lot less serious than what Classic Empire had last year?
