What was the reasoning for downgrading the Delaware Cap?

The same reasoning that's used for the scoring and determination of ALL stakes. It's not arbitrary, random or capricious. You can read about every element of how the AGSC works here: https://toba.org/graded-stakes/

Stakes have a rolling scoring average from the participants over a multi-year period and receive a warning when in danger of being downgraded. This year's DelCap will go a long way towards getting back to a G1. But DEL likely will need another field like this year's to get there.

Thanks Steve. And I was aware of most of the criteria...just thought the winner of the race and his/her resume had maybe a bigger influence, and this race has had some really good ones.
