Final Breeders Cup Points Contest Results will be posted here . . .
Please note:
There will be no contest this next Saturday as we always take a week off after the Breeders Cup card and fried our brains and humibled most of us. The Points Totals winner for the BC Races will select the next venue to start the 2022-2023 Contest Year. I MADE GRAVE ERROR IN CALCULATING Saturday's scores. My apologies to Cal828, Digger and Alli for the mistake, please see the correction below showing Cal to be the Winner of the Gallivan Cup and the day. (Plenilune, please hurry back). BREEDERS CUP POINTS RESULTS and THE GALLIVAN CUP WINNER The winner of the two day Breeders Cup Contest is Cal828. He picks the next venue on Nov 19 to start the new contest year. The players in bold type were competing for the Gallivan Cup. Great Job on the always challenging BC Points Contest Cal828 And the winner of the Gallivan Cup is Cal828. Big congratulations to Cal828 for a solid handicapping year and you now need to find a place on your mantle to display the Cup. If you don't have a mantle, you can always build one (fireplace or not). Points Totals for the 2022 Breeders Cup Contest The first total is for Sat, Nov 5 and second is for Fri, Nov 4 . . . confusing I know, sorry. Cal 76+49 = 125 Alli 47+68 = 115 Dig 43+59 =102 DG 60+39 = 99 Ruff 52 +39 = 91 JB 50+4 = 90 RQ 45+35 = 80 Cruz 44+25= 69 Zip 44+42 = 68 Lastly but not least, Champion of the Points Contest is DonGuido, who had one of his best Points and ROI years ever.

And the runaway ROI Champion was Don Guido who not only led us all year but Flightlined us in the Breeders Cup.

Kudos to Don Guido. I think he must have had a record setting year. Inspired play for sure. Hope he has mercy on us in the coming year. The rest of us will definitely have to raise our game to compete.

Nicely played Alli on a tough Breeders Cup card. Congrats. And kudos to Digger on getting his first Gallivan Cup. Last but definitely not least, DonGuido you are like a fine sour mash getting better as you age. I'll raise a toast to all of you tonight.
And a second to Plenilune and Don for their scoring.

Anyway, great year . . . very competitive and I wish I knew as much about this sport as most of you. I might be going into my junior year but it'll be awhile before I earn my diploma. Moving on as I will surely continue error in my calcualtions (but Ruffian will catch those), leave words out and misspell words due to my "Dad Typing" style. I guess y'all wil have to put up with me a little while longer. BTW we always ask for new recruits, seasoned or new to the sport, to join us. If you know of someone bring'em on. They can let me know if subcribing to the forum is not eay or not working. I have little pull here with the Head Stewart . . . I said a little. And no biggie but it's DonGuido.

While we are toasting the past year of racing, I have a few drams left in my jug of Jameson and would like to offer a couple of toasts of my own: First and foremost, to DonGuido for all he does in keeping us pointed in the right direction, sharing his obvious enthusiasm for racing and handicapping and in general providing leadership to our rag-tag group of horseplayers; next to all of our scorers - DonGuido for his recent pinch hitting, Real Quiet for dilligently scoring all of our ROI efforts, even my sometimes off the wall wagers, and especially Plenilune, whom I miss terribly and hope for her speedy return; and last but not least to all of our players who show up every week, try to figure out the contest cards and make this such an enjoyable site to visit. Slante!

Congrats on your Breeders Cup win Cal. You had it figured out while most of us were lost. Nicely played. Mistakes are easy, correcting them is hard but it is why we score. To get it right and have fun is the bottom line.

One last insight after a couple belts. 75% of you know thoroughbred ins and outs, subtleties, histories, stories and much more than I. I for some reason thought I could figure this sport, race by race, out . . . only in my dreams. When I post picks I'm thinkingI'll get ABC with every race . I truly am a beginner starting on forums to enjoy competing with my wife, in a very quirky way.
She is the reason I'm here but as it may in lie she is not able to show her extensive and passionate knowldge and love for this sport any more. With her somewhat compromised mind, she still tells me stories of great races and horses and jockeys and trianers of times ago. And I oculd fgo on about her but I'll end it here. I have a basic set of check points for the horses, trainers and jockeys, pps, track (minor) and split times I use in every race . . . and they are basic. Somtimes I even pick off Entries (time crunch) and have done well that way. This year they came together more often than not, lucky me . . . but still like most things in my life I owe what I try to do here. sometimes better than most, to my wife. Nwxt Year it may be a whole diffrent story . . . we'll just see. Off to walk a dog, sure there are typos and misspells but thats just me. Y'all nose how much I luvs yas. BTW, not many of you love the thoroughbreds as as much as I do, except my wife. See ya in two weeks.

Thanks. I pretty much had the winners figured out, but I had no clue on the 2nd place horses which killed my exactas in the ROI. Gonna have to work on that. Hopefully I got something to carry forward from this year that will help me in the future. I try to be optimistic in this never ending work in progress called handicapping.

Maybe for the first part of it, but judging from my past performances, I am incapable of playing well from the midpoint on. I think it all depends on what I got out of this year. I generally handicap reasonably well, but my betting sucks.
We’ll see, if this old dog can be taught new tricks. Last edited by cal828 : 11-08-2022 at 05:01 PM. |
