Hey, you find stoopid everywhere-- I have a friend who works as a coat-check, and she told me a few months back a guy picking up his coat handed her ticket number 64, and said, "When I'm 64. You know, like that Paul Simon song."

Of course, Kev, If you'd said that quip to me (very funny, by the way) would have said, "Technically, being a whale, Moby Dick was a marine mammal, so he couldn't ever have been a minnow, which is a species of fish."

And then you would have called me a nerd and I, too, would not have been picked up. Not that I'm still bitter about high school or anything.

I thought the same thing....then again, I wonder why folks don't get remarks like..."that girl makes Godot look punctual"....the lack of some folk's education is appalling!

as for dealing with less than bright people--how about when your bill comes to oh, say 5.04...you hand them a ten, and they finish ringing the register while you fish a nickel out of your pocket--then watch the fun begin when they try to figure out your change in their head.

Hee hee. I'm sure Kev will punish me later. Right Kev? Right? Right?

I thought your quip was hilarious, Somer, but then I was a theater major so I got tested on stuff like that. I was the only person in the entire theater who laughed at the "John Webster" quip when I saw "Shakespeare in Love." Now that I think of it, my dating history in college reflected it, too...

And Danzig-- that was really funny. Though thanks to that old milk commerical, I bet most people at least know who shot Alexander Hamilton. Who says advertising doesn't teach one anything?

Had the same thing happen to me years ago at Mcdonalds. The register read $5.40,so i gave the guy $10.40.The next thing i knew i was looking at a deer paralyzed by headlights.Years ago you went to the supermarket the cashier had to put all the prices in manually and figure out your total with coupons, and gave you correct change. They were faster then, than they are now with the scanners. How about at the track when they had that automatic pencil that posted the result and then the clerk put in the little window. He or she had to figure you're total in there head or on a piece of paper.

I always try to give them the change.....if I give them 20.40 for 5.40 bill..I say 20.40 to them. It's when they roll their eyes I get irritated!

Thats why I always use ATM/Debit, I don't have any patience for
these morons at check-out line. Also they have the right to vote,
very scary.

The problem is that when thrown a curve they are not able to think on there feet.Part of it i'm sure is training and they're told to give the change according to what the register says.
