Unhappy Go ahead laugh away......damn ice!

I know we all do a great job at laughing at everyone's harmless misfortune here on DT. So I thought I'd start everyone's weekend off with a little dose of my misfortune...I just wish it had been caught on tape..

Just a quick geography lesson...I live in Md about 30 minutes or so from Washington D.C. This week as you all know we had a little Winter weather. Well at my house we had about an inch of snow topped with about 5 inches of ice.

Since everything is still solid ice outside it has been an adventure trying to find a place for my rottie to do her business. Well yesterday evening I found a spot and she was able to rid herself of a two day backup....you see if dogs can't set their feet, they will just hold it and with everything being a solid sheet of ice, she just wasn't able to do her thing....but we got passed that.

So today I get home from the office about 5'ish, walk in get her all leashed up and out we go headed towards her new favorite spot. In my subdivision, there is a community pool and clubhouse about a block from the house. Her "spot" is down a pretty good size hill about 100 yards past the clubhouse...Well we had been there two times before and had gone to the left of the clubhouse without incident. This time we went to the right and just as we passed the clubhouse, she started down the hill and before I knew it, the leash had stretched to it's max 25 feet and guess what's in front of me? My dog running down the ice covered hill, 25 feet of leash and about 50 yards of hill that I have to figure out in a split second how to navigate. Well I didn't. I took 2 steps and went down. Oh I didn't just fall down, I fell down and went all the way down the hill....my dog stopped and had a railside view of my sliding past her. How far did I travel you ask...oh about 50 yards...I couldn't stop myself....I finally came to a pitiful rest at the bottom of the hill and the dog, (who didn't fall in case you are worried) came prancing up to see if I was okay...I managed to get to my feet and heel toe it back to the house and now 3 hours later am so sore I can hardly move. Oh and she never did do her business.....Go ahead, laugh, cause I know I sure would.....
