Default Revised top TV show list

Well, I've had time to do some more watching and sure enough...have made some changes. I'll call this a list of "favorites" although I'm prepared to defend these as the "best ever". Again, I can only rank shows I've seen often enough to get a feel for...The Sopranos, The Wire and The Shield top the list of "haven't seen"...I've seen episodes of each but not enough to really evaluate...my top 15:
1) Buffy
2) Angel
3) Xena (just finishing this series now)
4) Forever knight
5) Dead Like Me
6) Firefly
7) La Femme Nikita
8) Dark Angel
9) Charmed
10) Veronica Mars
11) The Highlander
12) House
13) Homicide, Life on the Street
14) Sabrina
15) Millennium
Coming series with potential....Drive, Football Wives
Current shows that could make list....Dexter, Bones

Just watched an episode of the Sopranos on A&E, Tony's sister murders her soon-to-be husband and Tony's boys take the body and cut it up, a family snitch hits some kid on a bike and puts him in a coma and he curses the kid, Tony's wife was stood up by a guy cause he's afraid of Tony, the previews show Tony getting it on with his shrink and him shooting someone...please tell me why this is considered a great Tv show???

Man... I always watch the A&E replays on Monday nights (because the show them first the Wednesday of the week before). Well a week ago Monday I missed the episodes, so I decided to give up the show and get the DVD. It sounds like it's really startin to get juicy.

As for the rest of your list of shows... Somer, we're just 2 different people lol. Good thing we got horse racing...

Are you guys living under a rock? Dang! I have watched 8 out of Somer's 15 shows. And while I love Buffy (as you can see I named by baby girl after her) and Angel, they are probably #2 and #3 on my list. The other six shows on his list that I have watched are probably on my top 15 shows too.

Those who never watched Veronica Mars seriously missed out on a great show.

No...different tastes! I don't try and convince folks that I KNOW which are the best shows ever, I merely present a list for discussion (and yes, to try and get a person or two to actually watch some of the ones I like). A lot depends on what genre(s) you like...I enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, horror and drama. Some folks love comedies, police stories and soaps, others (gasp!!) actually like reality TV. To me, a good show is all about the characters and their interactions...if I become vested in a character(s), I'll like the show. Often times, we assume too much...we hear this or that about a show and take for granted we know all we need to know. I know that has kept me from some shows that when I finally did watch, I was angry at my ignorance cause it delayed my enjoyment.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer...first was the bastardized movie, not really that bad in a campy sorta way but it went completely against Joss Whedon's vision as the studio and a clueless director ruined the concept. When it came to TV...well, it was on a minor network (the WB) as Fox refused to pick it up, and folks wrote it off as a show for teenagers. In fact, courses on Buffy are currently taught on college campuses throughout the world (graduate level as well as undergrad), faculty at such schools as Harvard, Oxford, and Cal Tech present papers on the show in the areas of literature, sociology, psychology, philosophy, math and physics (to name a few)....the only show to rival it's academic interest is it's spinoff Angel (Xena does get some consideration also). Buffy has become a social icon as has Xena....! None of this means someone has to like the shows I mention...I merely present this to make my point.

Jerry,
I have
heard of the BBC show, it's very good! The show I mentioned is Football Wives...an Americanized spinoff (our football, not soccer) which starts in June...I'll watch it to show some love for Lucy Lawlesss as she has one of the lead roles!

I assume she was born that way! I don't know...she's a beautiful woman, she was gorgeous as Xena (and Renee O'Connor was also as Gabrielle) and she's an excellent singer and stage performer. Very good actor...should be good in the role of a "bad girl" type.
