Do they really let 30 horses run in a race?

Dylan Thomas isnt a stones throw of his last year's form. A shame I expect him to run a clunker and my guys in Ballydoyle dont seem too enthused either about his chances

Sounds like there was some rain overnight, but according to jockey Steve Drowne the track should be very similar to yesterday, it doesn't feel any different but just might have some of the sting out of it. Like yesterday, it's officially described as Good on the round course and Good to Firm on the straight.

15 minutes until the first! Confuchias and Major Cadeaux are both out.

Tariq
US Ranger
Arabian Gleam

An upset to start the day, but 6-5 favourite US Ranger was beaten fair and square, no excuses. He had a perfect run, looked like he would cruise to victory but as soon as he hit the front Tariq went by him on his inside and kicked away to win by 3. Impressive. Arabian Gleam ran on nicely for 3rd.

Tariq's 3rd win from 6 starts.

Time was 1:26.76.

Nannina
Satwa Queen
Sabana Perdida

Jimmy Fortune has ridden the first two winners of the day, both very easy wins. This time he was much closer to the pace-making Wasseema, made his move about 2 furlongs out and cantered away to win by the same margin as Tariq in the Jersey.

5th win from 12 starts for Nannina, who ran 3rd behind Ouija Board and Alexander Goldrun in that amazing Nassau Stakes (G1) at Goodwood last season.

Time 1:40.97 after a slow pace.

Dylan Thomas ran a decent race to Notnowcato at the Curragh in May. Notnowcato simply gets no respect, in press or from the punters.

Manduro
Dylan Thomas
Notnowcato

Great ride by Pasquier, made his move at exactly the right time and held off the challenge of Dylan Thomas in a very exciting finish. Those two finished well clear of Notnowcato in third just ahead of Red Rocks.

Manduro's 8th win from 16 starts, and he was second or third in seven of the other 8. Not a bad record.

Time: 2:05.91 - a slow pace once again, with Sir Percy ending up in the unfamiliar position of leading. He wasn't comfortable in front at all, and faded badly in the final stages.

Royal Oath
Flipando
Vortex

You could say that Jimmy Fortune is having a decent day. This was his 3rd win for the day, and since he had one yesterday too he's already looking good for the leading jockey title for the week.

The group who raced in the middle of the track did best here, with the only horse who went on the far side in Supaseus leading throughout most of the race before being run down by the three horses in the centre.

Royal Oath kicked away to win by 4 or 5 at the line, ahead of Flipando and 50-1 outsider Vortex.

The win was his 3rd from 7 starts.

The Count finished quite a long way behind, sorry to say. I would guess about 15th-20th. I didn't follow him very closely in the race, but didn't see any obvious excuses.

Loading into the gate now for the Queen Mary! Don't really have time to catch your breath at Royal Ascot, do you? Joint favourites are Sweepstake and Starlit Sands.

Elletelle
Starlit Sands
The Loan Express

Starlit Sands tried to lead all the way and almost did, but Elletelle produced a great finish from the middle of the pack to get the win. Starlit Sands just held on for second ahead of a fast-finishing The Loan Express and Francesca d'Gorgio.

Sweepstake was a long way behind, hope there's nothing wrong. Maybe the track was just too dry.

But a very nice win, Elletelle's second from 3 starts and second in a row after a third-place finish on debut. Brilliant scenes in the winners' enclosure, a spectacular and noisy reception for Elletelle as she returns after her triumph.

Time was 1:00.64.

Barshiba
Selinka
Costume

Selinka looked a certain winner 1 furlong out after making a huge move from last to first, but she was hanging slightly in the last stages which allowed Barshiba to come through on her inside with a strong finish and win quite comfortably in the end. Costume looked beaten but fought very strongly to finish a close third.

It was Barshiba's second win from 4 starts, with a second placing as well. Her last start was 15th, 22 lengths behind Finsceal Beo in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last month.

And I'm off, see you in the Day 3 thread tomorrow! Night all.

Missed most of the racing yesterday (again) only got to see the Queen Mary. I'm surprised the ground was still riding on the firm side. On my way back from London on Tuesday night we were caught in the biggest thunderstorm i had seen for a while....... and being on an electric train, surely isn't the best place to be.

Good luck to everyone for today (day three) when i will miss all the racing, again!
