Default The Rocket goes for #350 tonight

If he wins (more like when), he will be only the second pitcher in the live ball era to win 350 (the great Warren Spahn is first with 368...I think, maybe 363). This is huge, and yet we really aren't hearing about it...like him or not, this guy ranks very near the top of pitchers all time.

The Yankee bats are not providing much support for the Yankee pitchers of late...

Are you insinuating that there is not enoough Clemens coverage?

I just think it's strange that the guy is second on the all-time live ball win list and this historic win isn't getting more press. Of course Maddux won #340 today so he's not that far behind. How good was that Braves' staff...??

I think that he has gotten so much press that unless he does something extraordinary, it is just another record for a guy that has a boatload of them.
It is an tremendous accomplishment.

0-0 after two...Bedard struck out the first 4 Yankees he faced, each team has a single. 7 guys 40 or over were scheduled to start today, MLB record.

i don't like him.
but yeah, it's an accomplishment, and he should be getting attention. guess he's not 'bad' enough. let him get in the middle of some police action, he'll get all the press he could ever want.

So, who do you think will end their career with more wins? Clemens or Maddux?

Both great guys, and I agree that there hasn't been much press on the Rockets 349-350, but curious who everyone thinks will last longer. Both are into their 40's, but both are still quite effective.

Amazing feat to have this many wins for both great players...

Maddux is still pitching complete seasons and has never relied on overpowering stuff...he should last longer imo.

Yeah, but with Clemens pitching 2-3 games per year, he could last until he is 60...

He ran out of gas tonight after 5 scoreless innings, appeared like he might have injured himself also...

Ouch

Not only did he not get the win, but didn't even get a strikeout. Only a matter of time, though...

Clemens is 1-3, not much bang for the buck thus far.

Maddux will definitely get more wins. With his style the guy is a possibility to throw at least more seasons. Clemens maybe gets five or six more wins this year, Maddux should easily pass him by.

Maddoux will be the last to enter the 350 club. There are NO probables/possibles on the horizon. There are no pitchers anymore than can throw 15+ 20 win seasons in a row and then hang on for 50 more. Even poor Pedro Martinez can't stay healthy and I don't know if he's reached 220 yet.
