Cat can't avoid Harada scrap

AFTER grappling with Haradasun in the autumn, Greg Eurell would prefer not to pit Apache Cat against the emerging champ too often in the spring.

This One is the emerging star at the minute !!!

Lucky Secret's goal is the Hong Kong International Sprint in December via three or four sprint runs here.

Lucky Secret: Wins, Bleeds, Banned

The joy of Lucky Secret making it seven wins from seven starts in today's listed Sir John Monash Stakes at Caulfield was quickly soured when it was discovered the three-year-old had bled.

The son of Rubiton will now face a mandatory three month ban throwing connection's plans into disarray.

Vasil was looking at running Lucky Secret in the Ian McEwan Trophy and Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Connections were planning on sending their unbeaten charge to Hong Kong in December for the International Sprint.

At the end of today's Monash Stakes, Lucky Secret ($1.85-$1.80-$1.90 fav) held a one length margin over Live in Vain ($13-$16).

Adelaide visitor Honalee ($26-$31) was a nose back in third place.

Close up in fourth and fifth place were Vormista ($9-$10-$9) and Stanzout ($17-$26) respectively.

Evergreen sprinter Super Elegant, running in the race for the fifth time, tailed in the field of ten - seven lengths from the winner.

Haradasun and Apache Cat Resume RIvalry
Story By Chris Scholtz

Monday, 30 July 2007: Classy Group One winner Apache Cat looms as the serious rival for the $50 million stallion Haradasun in Saturday's $100,000 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield.

The presence of Haradasun and Apache Cat has left a thin entry list for the Bletchigngly, Melbourne's fist weight-for-age race of the new season.

The 1200m sprint has attracted only nine entries including last year's winner Minson but a notable omission is Caulfield Guineas winner Wonderful World.

Trainer Bart Cummings has changed his plans with Wonderful World, who was set to go south for the Bletchingly after he won a barrier trial at Randwick last week.

Cummings will now give the rising four-year-old another barrier trial in Sydney before he sends him to Melbourne where his first-up target will be the Vain Stakes at Caulfield on August 18.

Minson is also not a certain starter as his new trainer David hayes has also entered him for the open handicap over 1100m on Saturday's Caulfield program.

The other Bletchingly Stakes entries include several contenders for the big spring staying races including Melbourne Cup placegetter Maybe Better, Adelaide and Sydney Cups winner Gallic and his stablemate Zipping.

Haradasun holds a 2-0 scoreline over Apache Cat after they met twice in Sydney in the autumn in the George Ryder Stakes and the Doncaster Handicap.

Haradasun won both races but held a decisive weight advantage over the older Apache Cat, who finished third in the George Ryder and fifth in the Doncaster.

Sydney's opening Group race of the season, the $100,000 Missile Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday, has drawn 17 entries.

Group One winners Fashions Afield (Blake Shinn) and Queensland mare La Montagna (Jay Ford) head up the entries.

Other Queensland entries include Dance The Waves (Nash Rawiller), Devil Inside and Sequallan.

Local sprinters entered for the Missile include Century Serb, Posadas, Real Strike and the promising pair German Chocolate and November Flight.

Stars return to shine

AUSTRALIA – A number of the spring racing stars will be out to play on Saturday.

Topping the bill will be the return of Haradasun in the Gr 3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield.

The Gr 1 Doncaster Handicap winner will be ridden for the first time by Damien Oliver who has landed the plum mount at Nash Rawiller’s expense.

The Tony Vasil-trained colt became Australasia’s most valuable stud prospect after Coolmore purchased a 50 percent interest in him.

Melbourne Cup hopeful Maybe Better and Gr 1 Australian Guineas winner Apache Cat will be among Haradasun’s rivals.

Dual Gr 3 winner Minson will make his reappearance for new trainer David Hayes in the Bletchingly or the Aquanita Handicap.

Permaiscuous, Beauty School and Purde will all return to action for Hayes as well.

The Caulfield programme will also see the Lee Freedman-trained Royal Asscher, a Listed juvenile winner, return.

Cox Plate hopeful Marasco is another back on track in the Belmont Newmarket on Saturday.
