Default ark coach search

well....
first tuberville was mentioned. that is seemingly out.
then this morning supposedly they were after tommy bowden, and had sought permission to talk to him.
now i read that TB signed an extension with Clemson--good for him.

flashbacks to their b'ball coach search.

oh, and what the HELL is up with pelini staying with lsu thru their title game?!?! absolutely ridiculous.

surprising nebraska is allowing him to stay or that miles wants him there working 2 jobs. maybe that means miles isn't staying either.

miles' contract extension to be signed this week i believe.
nebraska says that there is no hurry, due to the timing, and they understand he's been with lsu three years blah blah blah.
besides, maybe nebraska knows it's bo's last shot at a title for a WHILE.

Tommy played Arkansas for a nice solid long term deal with Clemson. I am glad he is staying, but he better win the ACC next year (no excuses with 18 starters returning).

I am not sure the fans of Arkansas are going to be happy with anyone they are able to land now.

TB would have been CRAZY to take the arky job. i don't think the hogs job is close to the clemson job.

heard this afternoon that fsu is to announce that jimbo fisher is the HC when bowden steps down. that was rumored in his contract.

i think a half dozen people so far have turned them down.

tim brando said it best today on his show. you (arkansas) needs to realize what you are, what you have, and therefore what you can get. they always aim too high. they are far from a top notch program, and lack top notch donations, and enough big money donors. it's why butch davis turned them down, and is remaining at north carolina. better program, with deeper pockets.

If he goes, it will make traveling up to Winston-Salem a lot easier for most ACC teams. He is a great coach, and I wouldn't mind seeing him leave the ACC.

Wow, the Arkansas Alums must be going nuts. Poor Jeff Long, I bet he regrets taking that AD job now. How long do you think he keeps his job after this?

the coach at cincy is now grumbling that they have not extended his deal.

2 things that make the NCAA a joke.
1. BCS
2. Allowing the coaches to jump from school to school and just about blackmail the Universities yet when a kid wants to transfer for legit reasons he must sit out a year. Or when a guy like Bloom from Colorado is a legit pro in another sport, they dont allow him to make any money without losing eligibility.

The hottest coach available for the 2009 season will be Bobby Petrino.

Jeff Long has a history of screwing up the coaching process. It gets out to the media who he is after, offers a job, and has it blow up in his face. He totally botched the Pitt basketball search. He thought he had S.Prosser and paraded him all over with out getting the final committmen. Prosser then went back to Wake Forrest and was given a large raise. Than it was Calaparri and others. He finally had to offer the job to Jamie Dixon because he knew he would take it. It has worked out fine because Dixon is an excellent recruiter and coach but Long still botched the situation.

funny you mention petrino, as some yahoo called the local sports radio talk show, and suggested that maybe arkansas could get BP. um, yeah.

arkansas needs to find a guy who has not yet been head coach, but is ready to make the leap. they need an up and comer, either an OC, or a DC.

but arkansas has a horrible habit of running off some pretty good coaches who have produced for them.

lou holtz, nolan richardson, houston and of course stan heath--he got the heave ho when a BIG name in b'ball was looking to make a change. oops. he had no interest in coming here however.

Considering how bad they have been over the past few years, Stan Heath has worked wonders with USF so far.

Well he has to get fired by the Falcons first. That may take another year. Though he may rather go to Miami or FSU if not back to Louisville.
