One year ago.....VT a city in healing.
Today is the first anniversary of the VT shootings, a day I will never be very far away from in my heart as my oldest was lying for hours on a floor in an academic building as the angel of mercy passed by him that day sparing his life while taking 32 others. I am humbly asking that all of us at the forum take a moment to communicate to our children and families how much you care for them today as you pick up a phone, send an email or better yet, hug your child or loved one today for no other reason but to experience the warmth of human connection that 32 other families will never have again. A year ago today all of the VT community was injured in a needless loss of life that humbled and horrified our campus and families. Today and every 4/16 to come, we celebrate the strength of family and the love we share with each other and the rest of the country. Hug your kid a little extra today, literally and figuratively, each and every April 16th you never know when that simple grace will be your last opportunity. Our love for our children and families is the most important love of all... |

Thanks guys for your kindness. The day was difficult in many ways like real life is sometimes but the people that count pulled it together to change a day of mourning into a day of promise. God Bless you all....

Doc...I hope I'm not posting this too close to the anniversary, but I was curious about something that was mentioned briefly in one of the Chicago papers recently. As part of a larger article, it referenced that (and I'm not sure which) every family who lost a child either received or shared a $12 Million settlement from the State. Was this due to an admission of guilt by the State as to how VA Tech handled that day, or was it for other reasons?
