Default the curious run of Bob Black Jack

Here's the game 2nd place finisher in the SA Derby, world record holder at 6 F, "capitulating" on que as a rabbit in this race. Without a whimper. Lots of questions raised here .

What I'm curious about is whether Tom Cruise or L R Hubbard is Suri's dad.

Let's get to the bottom of that one before we 'investigate' the BBJ issue.

I'm not following. Why wouldn't the fastest horse in the race be on the lead, where he's had success before?

lots of questions?
i don't think his run raised any questions. only question i would have is why on earth anyone would choose to bet him in that race.

It wasn't exactly a rocket ship pace he was setting although he was in the wind initially. 4 of the top 5 horses ran pretty near the lead indicating it wasn't a death defying pace. Migliore did everything he could...the horse wasn't good enough is pretty much all there is.

Obviously, he needs more ground. This is a Belmont horse if I've ever seen one.

Bob Black Jack was coming down the backstretch, and saw the giant "Yum Brands" sign ahead on the fence. He thought of KFC, and the plight of chickens raised for food everywhere. He felt guilty about his own fur coat. He realized that he was simply being used by the man. He realized he really needed to be on a train to Keeneland.

Right there, in the middle of the race up the backstretch, Bob Black Jack quit - to join PETA.

It's one thing to back a hopeless longshot like Bob Black Jack in the Derby. It's another to complain about the perfect ride and run your hopeless longshot got afterwards.

I gave the horse very little chance. He finished where I expected him to finish. I figured he would run somewhere between 15th and 20th. I think he ended up finishing 16th.

He didn't look very good training leading up to the race. He looked a little "rough" in his gallops.

Most of the good handicappers I know thought the horse had very little chance. When Mike Welsch was asked which 5 horses had no chance, he named BBJ.

I don't know what the big surprise is. The horse pretty much ran to his odds(29-1).
