Was Big Brown the reason the handle was way down all day?

Mediocre fields and contractual disputes would be my reason handle was down all day.

It isn't much fun betting races like the Hirsch Jacobs, which on paper was kind of interesting, but in the back of your mind you just KNOW the Assman factor would kick in and Lantana Mob would win at an underlaid 8/5.

Is it quite possible that some many people, considering our current economic status, don't have the extra cash to throw around? I'm sure it's not the main reason, but it has to come into play a little.

It's a combination of the factors, I think, mentioned in this thread. But also, with so many signals floating around, it places a premium on the undercard.

I know this kept my Preakness Day handle below $200. I probably put $1000 through the windows there last year.

And they can't even get mine right? I was probably the first person to file a tax return this year, electronically, and had my direct deposited, yet no REBATE yet

same with me!

got a notice that said if you paid for the online tax service by taking it out of your refund, you will get paid by mail regardless of whether you use direct deposit or not.
nice that they decided that after the fact.

now I won't be able to wager with...errr, I mean stimulate the economy until around 4th of July.

I think 8 Belles took some wind out of the sails. Big Brown's connections don't give people a warm fuzzy feeling to go to the otb or watch on tv...imo a certain joire de vivre has left the triple crown trail this year although i hold nothing against the horse.

It was really hard to get excited for that undercard on Saturday (Friday's was a bit better, despite the track conditions).

I hope belmont has some good horses lined up. I usually enjoy the Belmont Stakes undercard even more than Churchill's on Derby day.
