1984. Blamed it on a goat.
2005. Blamed it on a goat.
2008. Will blame it on a goat.

Same team. 100%.

I think its quite a stretch to say that the team is not very good. They are right there.

Beckett has had some pretty tough luck outings. Papi on the shelf doesnt hurt.

If they can hang in there until after the break (and i think they will), they can pick up some help from a fire sale and get papi back and they will be fine.

5 out of 30 teams in MLB have an abovr .500 record on the road:

Yanks (who gives a sh*t when you can hardly win at home)
Angels (better record on the road than at home)
A's (1 game over .500)
Phils (we could get 9 guys from this board and play above .500 on the road in the NL East)
Cards (close to same boat as the Angels)

Obviously, big Papi is a big part. But the other thing that I have noticed is that Varitek is batting aroung .220. As a Yankees fan I have seen that guy get a ton of clutch hits against the Yanks and the rest of the leauge. I believe that him struggling is a big factor too.

I wouldn't worry about the REDSOX( if I was one of their fans scattered about in areas that have no team themselves.) They will kick it in gear when the time comes. Both these teams will easily make the playoffs. I wouldn't trust the CUBS to hit in the playoffs. The Dodgers went into Wrigley and stopped CUB hitting well enough, but the L.A. Women hitters couldn't get enough runs to beat them. I will believe the Cubs are World Series contenders when I see them score bunches of runs in the post.
