Default Here is something unique

Golden Dynasty a Stronach homebred is running in a Mdn Sp Weight at Woodbine in today's second race, nothing remarkable about that except this horse is a half brother to Awesome Again out of Primal Force by Touch Gold. Very unique since Awesome Again has not run in some time. Currently GD is 7/1 on the oddsboard, Solataire(3rd in the Plate) is the overwhelming favorite at 2/5.

2000 2yo Champion Macho Uno is also out of Primal Force - thus a half brother to Awesome Again.

Interestingly - Awesome Again won the '98 BC Classic at Churchill Downs - and Macho Uno won the '00 BC Juvie at Churchill Downs. I believe a strong case could be made for both races having the deepest field in terms of quality in the history of those two individual races.

I think the '98 Classic field was the best collection of horses I've ever seen in the Classic. The '00 Juvenile had excellent horses like Macho Uno, Point Given, and Street Cry as well as many very precocious sprinter types like City Zip and Flame Thrower to name a few. Somehow A. P. Valentine was the favorite. Many of the Juvie fields in recent years have been terrible.

Yeah I remember that well, I was on Swain and it looked good for a moment until Dettori started hitting him, in all honesty that was a great field and Awesome Again may have been the best horse, his stallian stats are a testament of his quality.

BTW Solataire remains a Mdn after finishing 2nd again, remarkable considering he is stakes placed in the Plate Trial and blacktyped in a Gr.1 Restricted race.

What do stallion stats have to do with the quality of a individual as a racehorse? We have seen some very ordinary racehorses turn out to be excellent sires, and vice versa.

The '98 Classic was my personal favorite, and I liked the 2004 field a lot, but the 1988 group might have something to say about it being 'best'. An entry of Seeking the Gold and Personal Flag was only the FOURTH choice in wagering... wow.

Just to let you know that I did not ignore your post, I read it. Reason I didn't reply immediately was you basically answered your own question to me.
