This is the horse that Contessa dropped into a $16,000 N1Y claimer off a long layoff after he was competitive at much higher levels. He won, and was claimed, but in his next start against $35,000 open claimers, he lost his action on the turn. He somehow managed to regain momentum, but looked horrible physically in the stretch even as he was getting to the winner.

Based on that and based on the fact that he was now dropping into a $14,000 claimer, I tried to beat him today at 4-5. He lost his action on the turn AGAIN and had to be pulled up.

It might not be serious, but this is an injured horse that has been allowed to run multiple times this meet.

I'm not sure if it's serious, but this is obviously an injured horse that has been allowed to run multiple times.
Thanks. I hate that for both the horse and the betting public.

Yet someone was still stupid enough to claim him.

Anyone interested in watching the headon replay can see this horse, unable to sustain his gait on lefty lead on the turn, momentarily switch to righty lead, which causes him to 'hop'. Last time out, his poor action in the lane was due to his switching to lefty lead late. So, while switching to the wrong lead in the lane is not necessarily a sign that the horse is sore (other causes might be greeness or bad/good habit) it was a clue that this horse has problems.

Total coincidence that this supposed "bad/good habit" or "greenness" developed after 15 problem-free starts and was revealed at the exact same time that the horse dropped about 50 class levels.
