scuds says im a conservative because i exercise my rights under the second amendment to the constitution. i'm also not an advocate of large federal govt, which in his eyes means i'm anti-welfare.
i just happen to think that most programs should be handled by states, and that the federal govt has gotten far too big. but states like it that way, as the federal govt for most is very far away, and easy to call the bad guy, while local and state govt is only minutes or hours away. i also don't want universal health care, which he and others have blasted me for.
i doubt tho that scuds is on the sidelines, he'll be around.

Scuds tends to "pigeon-hole" people when he thinks he has them figured out!

It's just that I am letting the Conservative White Males vent some. I actually think some of our White Trash is gunna try very hard to kill OBA. So, you should consider sharpening your knives for JOE. Zig is a Conservative on most issues, but not on Social Issues. She has positions that are pretty close to a typical Gay Republican (Log Cabin Republican.) That's the only way I have been able to define her selection of positions. I see her as a type of Conservative. She doesn't see herself that way, because she puts emphasis on the social issue disagreements she has with other Conservatives. Her other beliefs are very Conservative. That's why she is getting along with the Gay Republican Gal. That's exactly who she should be getting along with. She isn't gunna be loyal to a party, because she has too many issues in disagreement with parties. I believe one's economic ideas about society are the most important. That's why I don't see her as a DEM OR INDY. She's not in the middle on stuff. She's either very Conservative or very Liberal(Social issues.) She's not an INDY.

AR gets a bad rap, but that is one beautiful part of the country, no doubt.

I don't know. I don't pay attention to it much. It's just that I have been reading her stuff since even before the last Presidential Election. I also know the people who have extreme views. Don't know the other people's views that much.

LOL, I guess. You're the person who knows me best on this board.
Actually I'm against excessive government spending and putting that money to better use, is that the same thing?

Well, if she is that smart, then I don't know why she would look for candidates with views like hers. I know she likes to hunt, but come on! Who has been like this? That Senator Snow Lady from Maine(maybe.)

my position generally comes based upon what the constitution grants us. i think in that respect i'm always consistent, altho i know you told me you think i'm the exact opposite. ti's from all my study of american history, and of civics, that i get my ideas from.
perhaps i do seem all over the place, but i always try to consider each issue on its own, and make a decision-which is why no party works for me...probably why i don't identify myself as a roman catholic either, even tho i was raised as one, by two devout catholic parents.

like i said before scuds..and this may shock you. i am uninterested in any further tax cuts, which is something both candidates promised. i think obama should concentrate on making do with what is set up now, add no new spending, and attack the deficit-which i think is the biggest drag on our economy. welfare isn't, social security isn't. but our ability to continue to function with a viable economy has got to be the #1 priority.

lol
btw, i didn't vote for a single republican on any ticket. surprised?
and i do have a hard time finding people who agree with me on all issues, so all i can do is find a compromise solution. it would be nice if everyone did that. look at how many agree with a candidate on basically every issue, but vote against him or her due only to their view on abortion. that's narrow mindedness.

i know i'm an oddball. doesn't bother me.

The majority of people (wherever that is) don't like gays. You understand now?

and I dont mind being a "Log Cabin Republican" or whatever that is

I'm registered INDY but I'm def. a conservative with liberal social views (which I feel social issues should not be things decided by the gov anyway)

I understand that unfortunately.

I just dont understand how you can tell people not to raise children.

If there was a Prop 8 saying blacks can only sit at the back of the bus... or a Prop 8 saying blacks cant adopt children.... this whole country would be outraged.

But throw in a different type of discrimination and this BULLSHIT passes.

i don't know what log cabin rep is either. i'm not registered as anything, it's not required here to list a party.
as for social issues...most should have been assumed by individual states long ago, the fed should never have become what it is now.
each state knows best it's constituency, the cost of living is different in each area-it just seems you'd have less fraud, less waste, if it was all more localized. but how do you move the burden to states, along with the taxing ability? obviously local and state taxes would rise, with a simultaneous lowering of federal-how that could ever be accomplished is beyond me.
but, like when the electoral college came up--this country isn't the same as when it began; back then, most wanted no kind of centralized govt-now it's exactly what we've got. individual states no longer look at themselves as autonomous for the most part. it's a big mess, really.

here in arkansas, we have arkids first to provide health care for kids without insurace. and everyone says it's a much better program than the federal program, more kids are covered, and more procedures. yet we still pay for the federal program as well. double dipping so to speak..but that's a prime example of locally handling an issue being better than everything thru d.c. but who will attack the problem?

Be fair - in Arkansas, there probably wasn't a single Republican on the ballot in the first place!
