I just dont agree with you Danzig. Shoot, President Obama admitted to using pot AND cocaine while he was in high school and college. The public didnt care. Bush was a druggie when he was young. The public didnt care. Clinton was a douche who said he didnt inhale... who the fucl< smokes weed and doesnt inhale!! The public didnt care. Nobody cares if Phelps took a bong hit. I dont think anyone would care if TO had someone take a picture of him puffin a joint. Cause they would know that they would be hypocrites. Pot use doesnt matter to mostly anyone except cops.

This is so stupid. So anyone who made a mistake when they were young and paid the price shouldnt be allowed to excel in the future? Barkely is paying his debt right now... this is something that happened recently, not 4 years ago. Do you really think that once his legal matters are sorted he wont be back on tv and everyone will shun him??

i am not saying in any way that phelps should get a ton of grief. my beef is with those who give unwarranted grief on other occasions. i'm not saying phelps should be hanged, drawn and quartered. what i am saying is that i don't understand why some get a pass, and others don't.
you said above that TO is an a-hole. how do you know? because that's the spin given by the media all these years. just like another thread said, there is definitely a bias-and phelps is a recipient of that bias, while others are not. another case in point-i've seen several times where athletes have gotten judged by the media regarding out of wedlock kids-but tom brady fathers one, and barely a ripple. he's a 'good guy'-i just want to know who decided who gets to wear a white hat, and who gets a black one. |

I want to know why you think TO doesnt deserve what he gets.
Also - from what I have been reading, Phelps hasnt been getting a pass from the media. Eventhough by Wednesday everyone will forget about this story and rightfully so.

you're not getting my point. how do you know what TO is really like? you don't, i don't. he may be a butt-i don't know. but the media has given us the perception that he's an *******. so, like i said, how do they decide who gets a wink and a nod, and who doesn't? and yeah, phelps is in the news-but not to an extent that others, who haven't broken the law, have their faces splashed all over the place. the perception is that phelps is a good guy. but again, who knows for sure? it's all in how one is portrayed, and to this point, he's had it pretty easy. especially when you consider his dui-underage at that. and i apologize for my stupidity. |

so the media made TO insinuate that Jeff Garcia was gay (If it looks like a rat.... ect), Then the media made TO go after more money in Philly after they took a chance on a guy that most other teams wanted no part of. The media made TO get into locker room fights (with Hugh Douglas) and call out Donovan McNabb after McNabb choked in the super bowl. It was also the media's fault that TO was suspended from the eagles for a large part of the season and then kicked off the team for what Andy Reid said was "a large number of situations that accumulated over a long period of time." Now in Dallas, the media forced T.O to open his big mouth again and call out yet another QB, his lover Tony Homo, because Homo likes to pass the ball to his BFF Whitten more than T.O... never mind the fact that T.O has had bigtime cases of butterfingers in Dallas. The only owner in the NFL willing to take a chance with T.O is Jerry Jones, because quite frankly, Jerry Jones is crazy. But of course that is the media's fault also. So, I guess I dont know what T.O is like in real life. I dont know what it is like to hang out with him. I dont want to know either. But I sure as heck dont need the media to tell me that T.O is a scumbag and a cancer to every team he has played on. And it would be laughable if the media treated him any different than how they do.

perhaps a better example could have been used than TO-i only went with that since someone else mentioned him...

perhaps. Eventhough most people receive negative press because their actions warranted it. Phelps included. He can and probably will lose some endorsement off of this. Unless he becomes the spokesman for ROOR (with a backwards R). I you Ziggy!

Can South Carolina please secede again? I can't believe those redneck cops have nothing better to do than go after Michael Phelps based on a picture of him smoking pot.

2 reasons this won't get a lot of play....
1. he's a swimmer, not a member of the media hungry NFL,NBA. 2. nobody really cares for reasons stated before and because he's a swimmer. or maybe it's because I live in Cincy and we are just used to our athletes doing idiotic things...

i don't smoke anymore myself. i lost the ability to properly dose when it started coming with sticky purple hairs. plus i was always more of a hallucinogenic fan.
but my friends that do smoke are all far more successful than me. and now phelps. i swear if i found out sean white used, i might change my mind. |
