The announcer is still the very last person at that track to realize what was going on. That's why it has a little of the Hindenburg-Disaster feel to it.

The 8 had quite a bit of run left on the rail. I guess there is a slight chance it only cost them 2nd place money. Sorry, that's the only ray of sunshine I can find.
