Say What? Your Credit.........................
I just purchased a new car today, but before I did they of course ran my credit. So this guy says to me how did you like living in Georgia? Say what? I never lived in Georgia, but on my report it shows I lived in this small town in Georgia in 2006.

you are entitled to look at all three credit reports from the three major agencies free of charge. go to
annual credit report dot com NOT free credit report dot com. that is a business trying to sell you stuff. at any rate, go on the first of january, or your birthday, an easy date to remember. or when you file taxes, which is when i check mine. it's a good idea to check once a year so that any funny business can be cleared up, any mistakes, etc. if you feel once a year isn't enough-perhaps you should look into lifelock or some such thing. but for most, unless you've had compromised info, once a year is plenty. also, if you ever file for credit and are turned down, you can get all three for free-but i don't recommend waiting til then.

you're entitled to 1 report from each credit agency/year. if you stagger the requests you have a better chance of catching a mistake or fraudulent activity earlier than if you order all 3 at once. |

No it doesn't ..it just means that they must verify with you that you are asking for a credit card or a loan..it doesn't freeze your credit.

I don't know anything about Lifelock and how it works - but if you call Experian and telling them they want a fraud alert on your account- I've had one on my account for over 10 years-it forces the credit giver to call you and specifically confirm your request. I would say over the past 10 years they have found 5 or 6 times when someone was trying to get credit using my name or my address etc...during that 10 year period I have refi, leased a car etc...never a problem. In fact, my own bank had to call me and specifically ask if I was applying for a refi - because I had a fraud alert on my account. For me it works!

What made me LOL was that we all have a picture ( where its true or not ) in our minds of each other and I really can't see you having a large live savings, much less a credit score to worry about. |
