Thanks for posting. Predictably, not much better than the horse in the Derby will pay to win.

With the possibly of an off-track tommorrow, it doesn't surprise me. Who other than FF has shown any off-track success?

If you think about it the double this year was just a way to up the win odds on your horse. Now I have 45-1 on my horse instead of 26-1.

If you like a longshot the Oaks/Derby double is such a better option. You get 154-1 on Mine that Bird with the free space of Rachel in the double pool as opposed to 51-1 in the Derby win pool. Only one I bet was West Side Bernie who seemed value at 74-1.

Except with the case of Friesan Fires, whose double was coming back $11.40 as opposed to his win price of between $9 and $10. As good as the Oaks winner was, getting paid an extra $2 wasnt worth it.

The Oaks/Derby double is a terrible bet if you are using favorites. For longshots though you are going to get much more value than you'll ever get in the Derby win pool.

Exactly. I bet a medium horse who went off 12/1 and whose double from Rachael was coming back $39. So about a $12-13 difference which isnt exactly great but in this case worth it just for adding her.
