Default Beyer fig for the top 3?

Mine That Bird, needs a 104 Beyer Speed fig to be on par with pre-synthetic Preakness Golden Rules

I doubt Poineer of the Nile and Musket Man were close

Beyers are here: http://cristblog.drf.com/crist/

Crist's Sunday column also good one:

"It's amusing to imagine what we'd all be talking about today if Mine That Bird hadn't been in the race or turned in the nifty performance that he did. People would be marvelling at the closest three-way Derby finish ever; comparing it to the Silver Charm-Captain Bodgit-Free House thriller of 1997; focussing on the apprarent contact between Pioneerof the Nile and Musket Man nearing the wire; promoting Pioneerof the Nile as a likely Triple Crown winner who would be the savior of racing; pronouncing this a trio of game, gutsy and above-average colts; and then marching on Castle Beyer with torches and pitchforks when the race got a 95."

I am afraid to say, that that makes Mine That Bird legit, as the Beyer par achieved prior to the Preakness is a 104 (oddly, 1 less than the Derby previous Beyer of 105

After I Want revenge Scratched , you now see that historically the Derby was a cluster**** of horses, none of whom(save Dukirk) were qualfied to win. But, Dunkirk was rumored to be having physical problems, and the resultant hoof injury bears fruit

Only Quality Road and Dunkirk, if running in the Preak, alongside of Mine That Bird have the credentials

I Want Revenge is out till late summer; Quality Road will be ready for the Belmont at best

Past Preakness trifectas have often had 2 out of 3 of the Derby finishers, plus an extra
