on the verge of a massive upset against the European Champions Spain. 2-0 up at the moment, 10 minutes left.. This is quite unbelievable!

No, no, no, nyet.

This needs to be set up properly.

The USA ends up in a group with Brazil, Italy, and Eygpt.

1.We are a man down to Italy and score. Italy then wakes
up and promptly thrashes us with 3 straight goals.

2. Brazil makes us looks like fools in an incredibly easy 3-0 game.

3. So we go into the game with Eygpt, looking to try and just play
better. Hold the ball, move it around, clearly we will not make the
next round as we would need to beat Eygpt who narrowly lost to Brazil
4-3, and thrashed Italy. Lets just play well. Brazil will also need to trash
Italy, they are already in the next round, Italy is playing to get in.

4. And this is huge...
We somehow beat Eygpt 3-0. Go figure, we are out but a good finishing
game. No, wait, Brazil destroys Italy 3-0, we are miraculously in on points.
OMG. Oh well, out next round. Spain. They have won their last 35 international games and ranked number 1 in the world.

5. We are totally dominated in time of possession, Spain is much more skilled.
We win 2-0.

THis is the most surprising tournament EVER for the US.
We just are not that good, but this is football... soccer.

Our MVP, dont dare say Dempsey.
LANDON DONOVAN.
He makes everything good happen on our team.
Without Donovan, we should not even bother playing
internationally. Maybe we should not play anyway.

Im a massive fan of Clint Dempsey. I "discovered" him 2 years ago in fantasy football and he almost single handedly won me the contest.. He is the States' best player but this tournament Landon has probably played a shade better.

He was in the proper place and put the ball
in the net. But OMG Brock, he made so many
crappy (bloody awful ) decisions otherwise.

I dont know how to assess this type of play.
We had to have him as he scored when it counted.
But he put us in so many bad spots...

Donovan seems, to this uneducated soccer fan,
to be the only man who can create an attack
on his own. I dont have confidence with any other
players with the ball on a long run that requires
a good pass into space or a shot. And he is definitely
the best guy with the ball if pressured by the defense.

LOL...I was gunna watch it, but got distracted by that guy talking 'bout his Maria. I expected them to get blown away by Spain. What happened? Spain just due to lose 1, or what?

Our goal keeper made save after save and the few chances we got, we scored. Its soccer I tell ya. You can be crappy and hang.
Now we meet the winner of Brazil-South Africa. Should be
Brazil and we will most likely have our gonads handed to us
in the final.

USA

Unfrggn believable.

Every player at every position is better than we are (with the possible exception of goalie) and we are winning two-nil...

Brock.
Dempsey is a killer.
He makes mistakes but he is a scorer.

Please let us hold on to this.

Our best tournament ever.
Look at how we qualified.
Its extraordinary.

The move by Donovan on that goal was unGodly.

On Brazil's 2nd goal, can you push off that much with your right arm? That was key to that goal. That's how the guy with the ball begins that play. He beat his man with the help of that right arm pushing off.

Didn't deserve to win that. Too tired. Goals 2 n' 3 (for Brazil) were both due to Americans being slower to the ball.
