I actually, as God as my witness, worked side by side with a woman who was an Indianapolis Colts Cheerleader. She was / is (this was 8 and 9 years ago) as cool as they come. Made very little money at the time. Then, when the seasons were over and her run was done, she moved on.

I saw her a couple years removed and she was very happy and making good cash at the time working on the road as a vendor rep.

Gosh, she was smokin hot. She got me tickets a couple times and waved hello during a game or too, good times.

I don't know if they have changed their monetary ways, but she was underpaid for the time and effort she put forth. Seriously.

Hey no kidding when I worked with this chick who was at the time a Colts Cheerleader she flat told me she made $50 bucks for a game, thats it.

Now, we were drinking something other then pepsi at the time, but I know she told others the same thing at the place I worked at the time.

I should run into that calender she gave me autographed by the end of the week as I go thru my stuff packing for my move to Florida.

i dated an l.a. skyhawks cheerleader (professional soccer team before anyone west of europe actually cared about "futbol") in 1976.

technically she was actually just a birmingham high school (where the game was played) cheerleader and she got drafted into this. and technically, i'm just bragging.

and she probably got fat over the last 33 years.

but i dated a cheerleader. at what i say was a "professional" game.

I have been told the same thing regarding cheerleader pay. They can make some more money for appearance fees. And of course, there's always the money from the calendars... and the later photos in Playboy....

I don't get why people are making a big deal out of this. Working in a sub shop is a hell of a lot more work than cheerleading and it takes you about 7 hours to make $50 there. Why is there a backlash against the NFL for wages paid to cheerleaders but not a backlash against Subway? As long as they are paying minimum wage and there are people willing to cheerlead for $50 a game then who really cares?

I don't really care either but a lot of practice goes into these cheer leading squads. When you total in the hours spent vs. compensation the Cheerleaders are paid worse than the Subway workers. That being said I agree with the Steelers and a few other traditional teams that don't have cheerleaders. Let the product stand on its own, if the team is good enough people will attend. Pro Hockey and basketball have become less enjoyable to me because in between whistles, teams feel a need to provide constant entertainment. While I'm ranting........you HAVE TO SHORTEN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALFTIMES, it's getting ridiculous.

what kind of tryouts do you need for Subway. Put on those plastic gloves w/o ripping them? 6 inch vs. 12 inch? Ok you made your point. Cheerleaders aren't cut out for it nails and all.
