Default HOTY: If Zenyatta wins the Classic...
...and gets Horse of the Year, I'm going to be really bummed. Rachel worked a lot harder than Zenyatta all year and she deserves the honor.

Watching her "dance" I think she could have made a very good dressage horse. Nice extension.

HOY or not, somebody somewhere needs to start working on a bronze statute of this lady. She's too gorgeous and too amazing not to. Do it with her reaching out and doing her dance moves. I loved that piece they did on her.

Don't suppose they could agree to tie it? I'd feel like a chump trying to do anything to diminish Zenyatta. You don't have to do that to make Rachel Alexandra's accomplishments stand out in the annals. I can appreciate both horses. She and Rachel both make me incredibly happy to be a fan. We're very blessed.

Zenyatta's victory is a feel good story for horse racing. Expect some positive reaction from the MSM.

As far as the HOY? The voters have a tough decision as Rachel was spectaular in her races and Zenyatta while lightly raced won the BC Classic.

Did you hear that crowd roar when she stormed on the outside. I have never heard a crowd that loud at the racetrack

Even my "Horse racing is boring" husband was yelling his lungs out for Zenyatta. That was awesome. How cool that the two leading contenders for HOY are both fillies.

Oh, 2009, you were such a good, fun year for racing. Can we do it again next year, please?
