I admire his desire to work a much tougher circuit but he is likely to starve unless he has a stream of mounts promised to him already by some of the higher volume connections.

As a fellow African-American, it would be great for the sport if an African-American jockey had some success at a major circuit. I wish him all the best.

Could only win at a 9% clip at Oaklawn this past spring and that wasn't what I would call a stellar jockey colony.

Looks like a sign that Mountaineer plans on closing for a few months this winter. As of a few weeks ago it was still up in the air.

He's one of the best black jockeys to ever ride at Mountaineer.

I wonder if he ever gets the "ride him like you stole him" line when getting legged up??

Blinkers off was a surprising move considering he got good when Jones put them on.

The New York winter meet is the time to break in. Most of the good jockeys go to Gulfstream and the Mount usually closes for at least a couple of weeks in Jan.

I thought the same thing NT.
I even thought that might make him a play against.(REDBOARD)

As I was thinking about the Blinks...I could not remember the last Assmu that wore them....Im sure he uses them on some of his 2000 horses, but the % he uses them compared to other top outfits is microscopic.

Default Asmussen blinker stats

Blinkers On..2009

He has put blinkers on only 38 times this year so far.
9 wins...23%.....1.52 roi.

Where as a trainer like Mike Maker has put Blinkers On 28 times thiis year with only roughly a quarter of the horses as Asmussen.

the guy is a butcher, he's way too overconfident in his rides, he always waits until the last minute to move a horse, and with the quality mounts he gets with Ass its hard to f&ck up some of those races @ 3-5 but he manages to do it... alot

if anyone has noticed Ass and Stonestreet got Albarado for their mounts this fall, expect to see more of the same this winter, and now that sellers is back he's gonna be riding a lot for Ass as well..... Bridge the Butcher "off" could be one of the better angles in horse racing today
