TK should be quite interesting this AM at 10 AM sportstalk980.com for those interested.. You gotta think that Snyder told the guy to go fall on his sword...or be fired in acrimony. |

Bruce Allen hired to replace cerrato, first to be given the moniker of GM.
The son of legendary Redskins coach George Allen, Bruce Allen was the general manager for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for five seasons. He and Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden were fired in January, and the pair could renew their association if current coach Jim Zorn is fired as the end of the season. "Bruce Allen is the personification of an NFL winner," Snyder said in a statement released by the team. "Our fans know his heritage; we know his abilities. He is the right person to lead our club." george allen was coach when i was a little kid and first figuring out football. hopefully this is the beginning of a return to greatness. hell, anything is better than what it's been. one playoff win under Cerrato. good riddance! |

Don't see Chuckie giving up his cushy TV gig (and salary) but will be interesting to watch him cover the Skins game Monday night. Speaking of TV gigs, when is Cowher's deal up? I think he would be a perfect fit in Washington with Bruce Allen. |

word now that shanahan is in discussions, that he wants to coach next year. just a matter of who employs him. chuckie says he doesn't want to coach next year, so that's that. if i were him, i'd stay in the booth. easy money, stress-free.

I think you will be disappointed in Bruce Allen. He is a half a step up from Vinny.
Do you want your GM making these moves? Big contracts for veterans past their prime. RB Charlie Garner, OL Todd Steussie, OL Derrick Deese in 2004 were the biggest names to disappoint after expensive signings. The entire 2004 draft? When first-round WR Michael Clayton, with two TDs in the past four years, is your best pick, it's a rough draft. Giving QB Chris Simms a two-year contract with $5 million guaranteed after he suffered a ruptured spleen in 2006. He played in just three games in those two years. Picking WR/KR Dexter Jackson in the second round last year. Jackson, was active in just seven games, with zero receptions. Philadelphia's DeSean Jackson, drafted nine spots earlier, had 62 catches for 912 yards. Jackson is no longer on the team. Of his 51 draft picks since 2004, only 23 were still with the Bucs at the end of the 2008 season. Of 33 unrestricted and restricted free agents signed under Allen, 17 weren't on the opening day roster in 2008. Good luck Skins fans. |
