CRAZY HEART.....just go see this movie!!
I saw a movie last night that stayed with me all day today...... His father Lloyd had his Sea Hunt, his mom Jean who passed last year acted and wrote for Bob Hope. He may be forever known simply as THE DUDE from the Big Lebowski or perhaps on this site as the benevolent owner in Seabiscuit. While playing the music of Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett and singing his way into the hearts of the audience Jeff Bridges gives a certain Oscar nominating performance as Bad Blake in Crazy Heart taking a set of common themes of life's lessons and choices while spooling them into uncommon truths. I was shocked by how well he plays guitar and sings while acting the rest of the role into rarified air..... Whatever you have to do find a big ole theatre to take it all in, do yourself a favor and see this movie.... |

Apparently written and shot by a first time director Scott Cooper. Whole movie done in 24 days for bupkus so hollywood suits didn't expect much. Last edited by docicu3 : 02-01-2010 at 12:02 PM. |

I agree that it is nicely done, and it is good to see Bridges getting the credit he deserves for his part in it. I think he has been underrated for years.

I haven't seen it, but it sure sounds like this year's version of The Wrestler?

I have heard........
Nothing but positive things about this movie although I haven't seen it yet I look forward to it. Jeff Bridges has had a wonderful career from The Last Picture Show which if I'm not mistaken was his film debut? To films like Starman, The Fabulous Baker Boys(One of my favs), The Contender, The Fisher King. He did a film in 2004 that I would see if you haven't called " The Door In The Floor" where he plays a famous children's author named Ted Cole. His marriage has been strained by a tragedy, and he agrees to take on an apprentice for the summer. It's a very good film.

I saw the film last Saturday night. Jeff Bridges is absoulutely terrific and the performance scenes are great! I have an opinion on my sense of the character of Bad Blake, and would love to hear other opinions as well. The thing that I was struck with, is that underneath all the bad habits the guy has, he is a good man down deep, you know? He just got caught up in the road life of the business, and sure made some bad choices, but he is still a good guy. I love the way they played the relationship between him and his former protege Tommy (a toned down Colin Farrell), whose of course become a huge star. But as he says in the movie, " I aint forgot that you gave me my start", they could have made this a total jealous and contenious relationship, which would have been so cliche. But, accept for a few remarks back and forth with his manager, which are funny scenes that isn't the way it plays out. When Tommy joined Bad on stage for an impromtu duet, afterward no blow up scene. It was very refreshing, in my opinion. Great film, and it will not shock me at all to see Jeff Bridges talk home the Best Actor Oscar.
