i just think running in the stake makes more sense if they are seriously going to try and make the derby.
I've seen all this before. Ain't falling for it. I had high hopes for the horse, but he acts like he's training a Gayego/Georgie Boy type.

People forget how much position Curlin lost early on in the Preakness as a much the best winner, as well as how he lost to Rags to Riches next out and was crushed by AGS in the Haskell two starts later and was a troubled but distant 3rd in the Derby before all of this.

They forget how Hard Spun was strangled 4.5 lengths off of the early lead in the Preakness ... and how Hard Spun conclusively finished ahead of Street Sense in their two subsquent meetings after the Preakness.

People forget that Street Sense got another huge pace and dream trip setup in defeat in the Preakness.. the only thing missing that time was a live rail.

Street Sense's race = Great pace setup for a one-run closer, incredibly sweet split of the pack never losing momentum to take the lead ... and than hung like ....

Hard Spun's race = a Grade 1 winning sprinter and free running speed horse who's race was totally ruined by two longshots going nutso in an early speed duel.

For people who think he's fine coming from 4.5 lengths off the pace going 9.5 furlongs ... keep in mind he was 4th to Tueflsburg in the Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn when previously hard rated ... that horse was trained by this lady ..

Curlin's race = green and lost early position and was behind Street Sense for the first furlong. Check his prior race - and his two subsquent races to know this wasn't the sharp horse that impressively won the BC Classic over Hard Spun and Awesome Gem - all while running a little faster than War Pass did in the Juvenile on the parallel time charts.

If Eskandereya closes from the far outside going away in the FL Derby and I recant my sentiment.
You're not possibly serious with this, are you?

Is that supposed to be IC in his youthful prime?

I'm paraphrasing what he said.
I guess they could conceivably make the Preakness. This horse is about as far along as Bernardini was at this point in the year. They would be rushed to do it, but it is possible. I think they would be better off taking their time and pointing for races like the Haskell and Travers.
