I'll give you he is a great track announcer. To me the two jobs are exclusive of eachother, good at one doesn't mean you belong doing the other.

Its like a sprinter going 1 1/4. Trevor Denman is the only announcer that is a good TV personality but I think he is a little high class to pull off that 58 flat show.

Does Anyone else HATE the fact that the camera never stops moving during 58 flat. It makes my eyes hurt, and it would make my pocketbook hurt if I followed the tips Matt "No Handicaping" Corothers gave out.

Hammering Hank is THE WORST. Where does he get his credibility anyways?
THE FRIGGEN WORST. I'd like to see what he does in his spare time, other than eat.

Gander, when I was in Vegas I talked to Randy Moss for about a half hour. Basically said that Hank was not his favorite person around(without actually saying it). Described him as the guy who always has the winner in some way after the race. Said some nice things about Kenny, though. Moss was as nice as you see on tv.

I think they are trying to bite off that "MadMoney" investing show on CNBC (is it?) with the frenetic camera movements. It def fits his "i snort Ritalin" personality, but I couldn't stand him before he had this show....so what do I know.

Today he did call himself "Place-Matt" describing he's propencity to pick the "almost" horses...but that's the only good thing i can say about him.

And I can't agree with you more about Denman....

I remember the first Breeder's Cup with Pete and Harvey Pack working together. What a great combo they were.

Anyone remember when Pete picked the Bud longshots? I think it was the Gotham...can't remember the year, but he nailed a $400 plus exacta of Pauncho Villa and Thirty Six Red as his Bud longshot.

I think Pancho Villa was in 1986 so were talking going back two decades. Nice score but I hope there's something more recent on his resume.

There is a LOT more on Ax's resume. His book " The City Game " is a great read about basketball in NYC.

I consider myself to have been very lucky to have known him for a number of years and have nothing but nice things to say about him. He was a terrific guy.

I thought the Pancho Villa reference was about Goldberg. But I guess it probably would've been Axhelm, who was covering racing back then.

I think they should change the name of 58 flat to "Caruthers on Caffeine"
