Default HOL trims stakes purses; Rosario's book to Ebanks

Hollywood Park, in an effort to protect overnight purses, has responded to the declining economy by shafting its stakes calendar for the spring/summer meet, which opens the week of April 24.

The $5.8-million stakes schedule, is down from $8 million last year.

It looks like the cut to min purse levels allowable?

YO VIC Monmouth Park is looking for a few small fine youngmen. No earthquakes and claimimg races that go for 70k.. And you don't have to deal with the weather..

Neither me or my young men are going anywhere. We're very much looking forward to riding, calling and have a great summer at Hollywood Park.

It will be interesting to see the jockey colony that ends up at the Jersey Shore this summer.

I think it is..You would think the fact that the best stakes are on the weekend would keep Saratoga very well stocked. Should be interesting names.. If your Joe Bravo your in for a major change..No more 6 horse fields that he is 2/5 in that is for sure..

I think Bravo has been up against it the last couple of years. Obviously he doesn't ride as many races, but the last couple of years he's had some competition from guys like Coa, Lezcano, Trujillo and Centeno. But you would think that the competiton will get even tougher when a few of the NYRA guys migrate south to Monmouth for the summer.

Keep the faith Vic it's noble! When your clients come to MP because they get sick and tired of races not filling and when they do they are for 34k instead on 80k will see how long the party line holds together..I do look forward to your calls..Love your work on that end

Freddy,

Listening to some small-time horse owner's advice regarding where a successful, meet leading jockey should hang his tack is like a trainer with a top class mare poised to give Zenyatta a run for her money listening to some jock agent's suggestion to run against stakes colts at distance beyond her scope instead.

Yes. Better to play it your way. Say something and remove all doubt.
