Default 5/14: Pimlico Race Course (1st-13th)

Thursday's action turned into a teeth-gnasher, as Alan Goldberg turf debuter Humble Song upset the 9th at Belmont at 18-1 costing the P4 and a nice P6 conso. Upon further inspection, the $140k KEE September '08 purchase was indeed eligible for a turf jump-up as a half to the nice grass stakes winner Around the Cape. Ninth race 'Best Value' top tab Hear Her Roar was moving best but arrived too late to produce the desired mutuels. Earlier, I certainly felt right about the suspicions I had for Biz Jet in the 5th, and the $28.80 tote on 'Best Value' second choice Hot Trip helped the day along. But, I chose to leave her off the P6 ticket which proved the difference in cashing a conso or not cashing one. Of course I'd be a lot more upset about running 2nd with Hear Her Roar in the nightcap had I been alive for the jackpot at that point... Hope you did well as it wasn't a bad day overall.

Preakness Weekend arrives and the spectre of another day threatened by potential weather issues arrives with it. Serious chance for afternoon thunderstorms today, so let's hope for the best. The good news is that Saturday appears safe from any problem from the elements. Strong cards have been assembled by MJC Racing Secretary Georgeanne Hale for these two biggest days in the Chesapeake, despite budget and horse population problems. It should be a great couple of days, and I'm looking forward to getting down to Pimlico Saturday. Full look at the Black-Eyed Susan card action below, but check back later as I'll monitor the weather regarding the turf and any potential sloppy track inclusions that may arrise from a downpour. Full weekend coverage on ATR this afternoon!

HI HO! PIMLICO

POST SCRATCHES (12:45am)

1st: OC/N2X, F&M-3+, 6f (DD, Super)

Most Likely: #2 Yogi'ssplashofgold 2-1 3rd
Next Best: #6 Tidal Change 9-2 6th
Super Add: #3 Regretable Romance 8-1 4th

2nd: MD-S/HCP, F&M-3+, 8.5f (P3, Super)

Most Likely: #11 With Purpose 5-1 WON ($8.80)
Next Best: #6 Swear Allegiance 9-2 2nd
Best Value: #4 Goodness Greatness 8-1 9th
Super Add: #2 May One 4-1 6th

3rd: OC/N2X, 3+, 5f-T (P3, Super)

Super Add: #12 My Bullet 6-1 WON ($15.40)

4th: ALW/N1X, 3+, 6f (P4, P3, Super)

A little hard to understand including charity race with retired riders in P4 sequence..

Most Likely: #5 Rasher 5-2 3rd
Best Value: #6 Brogue 6-1 6th
Next Best: #7 Chapel of Love 4-1 2nd
Super Add: #4 Mass Destruction 10-1 4th

6th: 11th Very One, F&M-3+, 5f-T (P3, Super)

As usual with turf sprint stakes, the favorites look like standouts. But these events are always subject to possible jump up winners, so try to utilize a price or two on multi-race back-up plays, and Linda Rice happens to have two of them in Ahvee's Destiny (SCR'D) and Lady Rizzi. I thought 20-1 Twice as Beautiful and 15-1 Always for Love were interesting bombs in here as well..

Next Best: #7 Canadian Ballet 3-1 5th
Super Add: #14 Always for Love 15-1 8th

After the famed Bermuda interview with me on ATR, it's too bad Kent Desormeaux didn't land the mount here on Pink Sand!

Most Likely: #7 Squabble 4-1 WON ($6.20)
Best Value: #2 Mac Speed 10-1 5th
Next Best: #1 Alpha Darlin 9-2 7th
Super Add: #3 Dixieland Melody 5-2 3rd

4: 5
5: 3-5-6-7
6: 2-7-11

A: 1 with 8 = 1 x $20 = $20
B: 1 with 7-10-11 = 3 x $4 = $12

Off to work and won't be playing today at all, just want to extend a 'good luck' to Steve and the fellow horseplayers! The value certainly seems to be there for the taking today. Hit the windows hard ladies and gents.

Lycurgus in the 3rd. Johnny Walker 'neat', DO IT!!

At work myself and won't be able to play today, either. Did give your picks to a friend here at work who is heading to Franklin to play a little.

Hope everyone has a good day!!

Nice call in the 1st, Steve. Haven't had a chance to look, but threw a few bucks on that horse and played a little DD to your top selection in the 2nd. Keep it going!

Thank you, Steve! The account was low and before I went to deposit for the weekend, figured I would take a shot on that horse in the first and that early DD. Thanks to you, I now have some $ to play for the weekend (the degenerate that I am ) and no need to deposit.

Keep up the great work, I am going to throw a few bucks on some of your best values on top today. Certainly spices up the workday and a lot more fun than the law that I am knee deep in this afternoon!
