Default Monmouth for sale in Christie takeover?

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201...rack_shut.html

N.J. Gov. Christie plans takeover of Atlantic City casino district, sale of Meadowlands Racetrack

"Monmouth Park, which runs thoroughbred horse racing in Oceanport and expects to lose $10.9 million this year, would be leased out or sold as well."

Back when the state bought the track from the MP Jockey Club my Old Man said it's just a matter of time before this state ruins everything.

No gaming, no sale. I can't see anybody buying it.

Where is all the press about the Xanadu project? Oh I forgot the media is on the take.

People lap up the "tracks are losing money" nonsense without even questioning. Or looking at context.
Perfect opportunity for you to put up a webpage exposing the corruptness/ineptness. This is the information age, having people on the take should no longer be an advantage. Only way to do anything about the way government is run.

Basically all it was supposed to be was a big mall with a couple of different entertainment options that included an indoor ski hill/mountain.

I was at the Meadowlands a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe what a giganntic eyesore it was.

I particularly enjoyed the part where they said that ensuring new color scheme in Xanadu was a big factor in negotiating with a developer to take it over. How hideous must it be for this to be a factor in a billion dollar boondoggle ??

And in that picture you can't see all the weeds and fescue growing all over the place.

This story is making me nervous, especially the implications for Monmouth.

You've never seen it? Brutal is an understatement. Looks like the f*ckin' docks at Port Newark Container Terminal.

having lived only 5 minutes away from the meadowlands my whole life, i can confirm the xanadu disaster is beyond description. who ever the architect was who said " yeah! that looks great" before they built this giant F'up should suffer the same fate as mel gibson in braveheart.

and to put it near the turnpike was just cruel.

Would "privatized" tracks have less takeout?

It's New Jersey--what did you expect?

To borrow a line from The Godfather...they're animals anyway, let them lose their souls.
