Default For those of you who slammed him last year...

I heard the race on the radio and did not see it till after but I hated his Classic call. Too much emphasis on Zenyatta IMO. Just call the race and tell us what is happening, not what you want to happen.

I thought he did very well. I'm not particularly fond of the timbre of his voice, but he was accurate in calling the races. I didn't notice any mistakes.

I enjoyed his call in the Mile. Mentioning Zenyatta 15 times during the classic was a bit overboard, IMO.

But he was also playing to a cheering crowd that was reacting every time he mentioned her..

There were many more people watching on TV than at the track. Here is another question though. I seldom pay attention to the track announcer when at live racing (or even at the OTB) because I am concentrating on watching the race, am I the only one?

I only wish I could have blocked out the Arrr call at Saratoga a few years ago.

He did a nice job, but then again I really don't pay a whole lot of attention to a race caller.

You could hear him? I didn't hear him all weekend. The sound system near my seats sucked.

I could hear Collmus say "There off" on the undercard and that was about it.

I felt like I was at old school Keeneland.

i don't care for denman at all. i don't like his 'and away they go' growl, i don't like his 'scraping the paint'...he's just not a fave. his zenyatta over and over was ridiculous. it was bad enough that they completely ignored the horses walking over, saddling, etc..but for the race caller to only talk about her? i had to figure out who was where, he was no help at all.
if it was between him and battaglia, i'd pick him. but i'd rather any one of several other callers than him.

Same here. I didn't hear any of the call for the Classic, and little more of the previous races.

I thought he was pretty awful in the Classic, but did well otherwise.

I thought he was fine, except the Classic might be the single worst race call this side of Bobby Flay's call at Saratoga.

Once they hit the top of the stretch you couldn't tell whether there was an announcer or not in the Classic.
