Default Santa Anita 2-19 Card

Hi Steve

I'm not going to be able to call in when you have Hammer on because Ill be at work in the morning but could you ask him the thinking on carding the San Carlos, a typical Santa Anita small field, 6 horse pre scratch stake as the 8th and feature when he has the San Luis Obispo with a great full field carded as the third race. I'm not an expert on structuring a card but I found it interesting that the card shook out the way it did. I would think the obvious thing to do would be to card the larger race in the late pk4 to attract more combination plays and thus a larger handle.

Thanks.

The weather. Its in another thread. Chance of rain in the afternoon, the thinking is its safer to run the turf race early on. Safe as far as the turf course being in better condition because of hopefully missing the rain.
