Uncle Mo is to resume training Wednesday after getting Tuesday off. (He and Stay Thirsty jogged Monday, the day after they worked five furlongs together.) World-renowned equine internist Doug Byars, who has overseen Uncle Mo’s treatment for the inflammation, is scheduled to examine the colt again Thursday.

“We are putting the horse first, which I do for Uncle Mo or Gerard Loves Beer,” Repole wrote, referring to a cheap claimer he has who is 1 for 14.

Repole said the final decision on running Uncle Mo in the Derby “could be made as late as Saturday mid-day,” which would be well after wagering on the Derby begins at 9:30 Friday.

And, Repole said, “If he runs, he will be (the) favorite.”

If he's not right at entry time, don't enter. Not that I'm a big Sway Away fan (or that I generally think that horse #21 on the earning list "deserves" to be in the gate) but how obnoxious for the owners of the horse that's one back on the list?

The point I am trying to make is that maybe Repole really has no intentions of scratching Uncle Mo, he just wants even more attention that he was going to garner anyway. Kind of like the whole handicapping world holding their collective breaths waiting for Repole's decision.

I think he wants the attention but they know they have to scratch. He just wants to be in the spotlight until Saturday when his other horse runs up the track.
