Default Way to go Pat!

Unbri, PP, Matt-O, Pat..

Thx.. The 58-1 horse from Kathleen Feron jumped off the page at me.. Seemed obvious that she was pulling out the stops for a win...

First lasix.. She's 2 of 5..
First turf.. 1 of 3..
Sprint to Route.. 2 of 4..

Horse faced Whatdreamsrmadeof in her debut.. Was wide throughout her last.. Had figs competitive with this group.. Was going to be priced right.. Misses by a diminishing head at $118..

Pat.. Glad you "get it".. I hear from some readers and listeners that say my style is a phony way to "claim" wins. I find that laughable. Boxing may not be the "smartest" investment (weighing each horse equally for the win), but it's worked for me for a long time because I've always included 58-1-type horses and the returns on scores like this easily offsets the misses and has regularly kept me ahead over the years... You only have to look back to Wednesday's Opening Day to see what comes from playing this way.

I don't box every race myself... I'll key horses that I think are real standouts whose chances of winning outweigh the rest of those that I think will be involved. My selections are meant to suggest to people who looks appropriate for the exactas, tris and supers.. I don't bet W-PL too too often, so my mindset ISN'T to pick a "winner". I'm looking to see what 3-5 horses MAKE SENSE in races, and they are the ones I identify.

Since I get asked often, the 1 & 2 picks are the horses I think have the best chance of winning, and the A & B are the ones I think can upset or be involved "underneath". (This is not disimilar from Steve Crist's A-B-C-X ranking concept). Boxing the 4 in a tri is $24 and keying the top 2 with the others is $12. Keying 1 is $6. I can offer the horses I like, and anyone can go from there and spend what fits their budget with the one or ones they like including horses they prefer that I may not like.

Am I the most sophisticated guy out there doing this? No.. I can't compare my level of wagering comprehension to someone like Andy (blackthroat) olr Crist who play the game professionally. But at least I hear from you and others here who do well, and "Joe in Cincinnati" on ATRAB, (who's made $15,000 the last 6 weeks since he got his SIRIUS radio), so I guess I'm doing something right.

Steve,
I am a horse owner and player,I think your way for the selection process is very good.I like the idea of you putting them out,and letting the bettor make what ever way to play them that fits their budget.Whether it be a boxplay,or a key play.Your format is great for the pick3 and pick 4.If your going to hit these pick 4 s,you need to go deep with some price horses. The job your doing is great, dont change now.I play a crazy way at Keenland,ONLY because its polyturf.I find the key horse in that race and wheel him 1st,2nd,3rd,in the trifectas with all.Just for the fact that its very hard to cap them on this surface. And boy have I hit some big ones.Steve, great job, keep up the good work.Great site, great people here. A++
