Default 9/21: Belmont Park (4th-9th)

Highlight of Thursday was Awesome Feather's 2nd race as a 4yo, which was overwhelmingly the tender champion's career best. The 10 for 10 filly will face an ultimate challenge in the Breeders' Cup Distaff, but will arrive there as a far more imposing presence than many imagined before this impressive performance. Chad Brown sounded supremely confident on ATR Monday discussing the way the Stronach miss was coming up to Thursday's try and he and his team deserve tremendous credit for their careful, dilligent handling of her. Her status will help make the Friday of Breeders' Cup that much more appealing.

Nice 7th-9th P3 and double linking Big Business & Pianist helped carry Thursday's Belmont action, though I'm still not sure why I short-armed the P4 try which cost the solid $240 tote. Hope everyone did well. Was rooting for a carryover for Friday, so having purloined a glance at the 4th-9th, here's some action..

BELMONT PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

4th: CLM, 3+, 8.5f-IT (P6, P3, DD)

Nothing clever to impart with top choices simply better than price options..

Most Likely: #7 Veiled Prophet 7-2 4th
Next Best: #6 Kippers n' Eggs 5-2 5th
Exotics Use: #1 Concert Stage 4-1 2nd
Super Add: #2 Unaccountable 3-1 WON ($8.00)

5th: NY-OC/N2X, 3+, 7f-T (G/S, P3, DD)

'Solar' the one to beat, Karakorum Legend the preferable side of the Rice entry and Gimme Credit in dangerous hands, but that doesn't preclude you from reaching for value players. First time 5yo Sky Blue Pink (15-1), cutback candidate Fourseventeen (8-1), board regular Hear the Footsteps (6-1), plucky Barrel of Love (10-1) and mutuel stalwart Isn'tlovejustgrand (15-1) all catch the eye as exotics candidates..

Most Likely: #8 Driven by Solar 3-1 9th
Best Value: #6 Sky Blue Pink 15-1 5th
Next Best: #1a Karakorum Legend 5-2 3rd
Exotics Use: #7 Fourseventeen 8-1 7th

6th: MDN CLM, 3+, 7f (P4, P3, DD)

Giving D'tiger a chance with move to slick outfit and rise in class. SCR #1a Box Office who won for Pompa yesterday..

Best Value: #10 D'tiger 9-2 4th
Next Best: #8 Curve Ball 7-2 5th
Exotics Use: #5 Saturday's Charm 5-1 WON ($13.20)
Super Add: #2 Grand Rapids 12-1 8th

7th: OC/N1X, F&M-3+, 9f-IT (P3, DD)

Christina d'Oro 20-1? Yes please. Will likely add Zultanite & Antonia Autumn -- both 7-2 -- to back up P4 play..

Best Value: #1 Christina d'Oro 20-1 6th
Next Best: #2 Sex Appeal 8-1 8th
Exotics Use: #8 Riolama 3-1 2nd
Super Add: #6 Crazy Party 6-1 3rd

8th: OC/N2X, F&M-3+, 7f-T (DD)

Most Likely: #3 Limonar 5-1 4th
Next Best: #6 Sylvestris 3-1 2nd
Best Value: #7 Button Girl 8-1 WON ($29.60)
Exotics Use: #1 Resonating 5-2 6th

9th: MDN CLM, 2yo, 6f

Respect Trombetta/Dominguez with 2nd choice Quinby Pete, but speedy pages on R. Dutrow acquiree Hulett and FTS Makesnosense from scary Mike Mareina are intriguing. Crafty Joe O. brings Happy My Way up from the shore, adds hood and Wilmer..

Most Likely: #9 Quinby Pete 7-2 2nd
Next Best: #4 Hulett 6-1 4th
Best Value: #6 Happy My Way 15-1 WON ($21.20)
Exotics Use: #7 Makesnosense 6-1 7th

<$100/<$75 P4 Play:

6: 2-5-8-10
7: 1-2-6-8 (5-7)
8: 3-6
9: 4-6-7-9

4x4x2x4 = 128 x .50 = $64
4x6x2x4 = 192 x .50 = $96 (with 5-7 in R7)

Good luck!
Steve
