I love it. An impossible horse in a ridiculous race.

Happy for Wayne.

The Breeders Cup should be embarrassed by this race. Kudos to Wayne for taking a shot

Embarrassed? They're trying to add more ridiculous races. The Juvenile Filly Turf Sprint Classic Preview or whatever drew 5 tomorrow.

A 9-year-old South American dirt import runs away with the Marathon in his first United States try.

Atigun got one of the most brutally incompetent rides you'll ever see.

He made a crazy pre-mature 5-wide move to put away the speed horses around the 2nd turn.

The two speeds were hooked up together going 1:12 and simply not relaxing and wanting to duel ... Atigun was in a dream position 3rd and merely had to inherit the lead when the two speeds inevitably stopped.

Instead Smith looped them on the turn and put them away with 7 furlongs still to go. He collapsed the race and the South American dirt plodder just ran over the top of these horses in the stretch.

1st "Breeders Cup" race goes to a D. Wayne Lukas maiden

2nd "Breeders Cup" race goes to a South American 9-year-old with an ultimate assist from Smith.

That million dollars is just wasted.

Did Gary Stevens revert back to Ronnie Franklin druggie form to make that statement about this years Classic being one of the best ever?

You seriously think the ride on Atigun was worse than the ride on Jaycito? Clearly the horse had no shot, but WTF was that abortion?

Jaycito was being urged into the race early and wouldn't settle after he engaged the Canadian speed horse. I have to think the jockey was riding to Baffert's instructions. I agree -- the ride made no sense.

Mike Smith was insanely aggressive on Atigun. He Made a wide sweeping move and put the unsettled leaders totally away with 7 furlongs out. Those are the kind of moves you can get away with on freight trains like Skip Away going 10 furlongs. On plodders like Atigun, going 14 furlongs, they won't work.

Mike Smith's aggressiveness on Royal Delta helped save my day. So I'm personally thankful for that. Love And Pride got nailed for 4th in the final jumps by Grace Hall. Include Me Out running 3rd saved my bacon today.

Coming into this years Breeders Cup Distaff -- Southern Cal based females had won 7 of the 8 BC Distaff's run in the state of California and were 2nd to Bill Mott's Ajina the one time they didn't win. A lot of nice eastern fillies have X'd in that race -- Questing and Awesome Feather were the latest examples. My Miss Aurelia getting blocked for so long almost allowed for Include Me Out to sneak in 2nd and ruin my day.

Royal Delta won that race despite being taken out of her game. Royal Delta is really something special when she wants to be.

He rode about 30 "best horses I ever rode". Perhaps using the same logic in his announcing career.

Happy for Lukas! The ride by P-Val was iffy, but still happy for Lukas.
